I went out this afternoon and was going to walk but very cool and it started to rain again so didn't get far. I didn't think it was to be as cool the rest of the day so it was a surprise. I don't think it got any higher than 50* this afternoon. It's a real change from the 90+ temps at the beginning of the week. Oh well I'll try and walk tomorrow. I do have a haircut late afternoon but that's all my plans for the weekend. We too had a neighborhood yard sale going the 31st 1st and 2nd. I didn't participate and I'm not one for going to them so stayed home. I probably could have walked around yesterday to see what they had, but didn't.

Hope the weather clears for the rest of the weekend, I know we need the rain and cooler temps so I guess I shouldn't complain. I think it's going to be a long hot and dry summer here.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening. Have a nice dinner and fun doing karaoke. Bye for now. G.emoticonemoticon

Hello. Gosh, today has been fun. Paige and I have played and played, but she is napping right now, so,our stroller ride will happen later. I got a 45 minut bike ride in this morning in 40 degree temps, but there was almost no wind, so it was a pleasant ride, even though a bit cool. Well, MK, I think It's a true habit when you get up and do it even when you don't feel like it.

G, I'm watching the Revolution right now, so I'll go to their web site and find that recipe. I have some fresh strawberries I need to use up. I've never watched it before, so far it's good.

I think we are going out tonight, as hubby has some friends in town and it is karaoke night. Tomorrow is city wide rummage sale day, so I'm sure we'll be running around to those. I'm not a rummage sale person, but my husband loves them.

Enjoy today!

Good Morning. I made this breakfast bar yesterday but it didn't turn out like I thought it should I got the receipt off The Revolution show, it called for fresh strawberries, which I didn't have, but he said you could use any fruit, but only had a package of frozen berries so I tried those. It was so thin and when taking it from the pan it broke into several small pieces. It was to make squares and the ones they showed were so much thicker. I cooked them in my toaster oven this morning on 450* a little to hot but they were crispier than before. I'll try them again tomorrow or as a snack only heating at a lower temp. They are 90 calories/ square, but it didn't say how big a square. Mine were very thin and small pieces so I ate three of them. I might try them again but thaw the berries longer and strain them before adding them to the mix. I'll also try a smaller pan when cooking them. they weren't to bad but I think I'll try more sweetener next time. The berries were a little sour. I think I'll try to sprinkle the berries first with the sweetener than mix it all up and cook it.

Mk, glad your business doing well, it does sound like your having a busy few days. Great job on 11 days exercising. You'll make your goal I'm sure.

Lisa, hope the day is going good for you and that your finished with all the meetings for this year. Enjoy playing with Paige and have a fun day.

Today we woke up the heavy rains and a gray sky. It's stopped now but rather cool out. I was going to open up but still too cool so will wait until later. Maybe the rains will move through and the sun appear. It would be nice, but I think it's calling for rain all day.

Everyone have a great weekend and hope your weather will be nice for all. Keep up the exercising and eating the proper food this weekend. Catch all later. G.emoticonemoticon

Day 11 - I'm tired and I'm not sleeping as well as I should - I still got up and got on the elliptical. I even got the resistance at an 8 (highest is 15). I tossed and turned all night and it was just a busy day yesterday. I had insurance meeting and then I covered a monitor shift at the art center and then went home to work on the business. I should have gotten the invoices out sooner, but we ran out of ink - so I did have to go to the store and get that as well. Just seems like one thing after another.

There is an artist reception at an organization called PCL - it is a non-profit for disability people. I have one of my sunshines in it - so I think I will go to that this evening. We are also having a Spring pottery sale at the art center so I have to drop stuff off for that.

My morning is not going as good as I hoped - it is taking forever for me to cool down from the elliptical workout. I spilled coffee down the front of me on the way to work - so now my shirt has dribble stains... just going to be one of those Fridays. On the upside - its payday! YIPPPEEE!

Figured out our total monthly business income is finally taking in more than what my husband made on the farm full time - working 15-18 hours/day - and now he only has to put in 8 hours/day or less. Very happy about that.

Well off I go to the data... take care ladies and have a spectacular weekend!!

MK, congrats on the double digits and the maintenance job. I am familiar with Thrivent, althoughwe do not have their insurance. Isn't 21 days before a practice becomes a habit?

All is well here. My only exercise tonight will be dog walking. I needed a light day of exercise, so decided today would be it. We have Paige tomorrow, so I have some major outdoor time planned with her.

Have a wonderful evening.

Day 10 down in the books and I've reached my 2nd goal - double digits! I believe that I'm just considering it a routine at this point, but still find myself counting down the minutes until I'm done and off the elliptical. I'm walking at lunch - tho not as often as I'd like. Many times I have to run way to many errands for my feet to take me - especially when they go from one end of town to another.

I did watch some of the Hatfields and McCoys last night - for the first time. They were showing the 1st, 2nd and then the 3rd. I only caught the end of the 1st one and some of the 2nd and I kinda gave up on the 3rd because all it was was killing. I just don't know how people can live like that. My husband - who is from a rural part of Mexico - said that is how it is down there. Not so much now, but it was an eye for an eye kinda thing and families would feud in a very similar fashion. I have to agree with you Lisa - the graphic killing was not necessary - we all got the idea of how much death there was and the amount of hate handed down generation to generation.

Did I tell you we had our new recliners delivered a couple days ago. They are a nice rich chocolate brown - I love them. The next thing I want to get is a couch - and the place where we got the recliners has a beautiful red couch I want. I'm going to work on making some lamps for the living room as well.... that is if I can get a pot thrown that big - and tall! Practice Practice Practice!! If I can't throw something that size then I just might hand build it. We shall see... I have to cover someones shift at the art center tonight - so I might get some throwing time in.

We got another monthly maintenance job last night - along with the 1st clean-up. It is our first business account. It is a small financial business - Lisa you might know it - Thrivent Financial for Lutherans. Its a small yard, but it puts us in an area with many other businesses and we will have that exposure.

Well I have some work to get done. I've sent a query to the data warehouse and I've been waiting on the results - hopefully it won't take all day!!

Take care!

Good evening. We had an administrative training today, and it continues tomorrow. My mind isn't focused on working right now, so I probably didn't benefit as much as I could have.

Have you watched any of The Hatfields and McCoys? I've watched some, but cannot continue, as the brutality that is depicted is a bit much for me. Historically accurate or not, they could do a better job, especially for, something on the history channel. I can handle a lot, but this was for the big screen, not evening TV. I thought the acting was good, and I enjoyed learning the story, but I simply didn't need to "see" all those people getting shot. I can figure it out without it being shown.

Keep on exercising. I've never regretted exercising, but often have regretted not exercising.

Good morning! Day 9 down. Great ideas Lisa!! I have watched my son transform his body with those simple exercises. I will be incorporating them in with my elliptical soon. Right now I'm focused on getting up and doing this one thing. Great job Georgie for figuring out things to do at home!!

How awesome that someone has asked for your help Lisa! Great ideas for her and super compliments to you!!! I think your husband is right - a picture goes a long ways - especially before and after pictures (I love the specific instructions!! hahah)

It is Farmer market Wednesday today. So I'll walk downtown and do some shopping for dinner. My husband has requested some type of squash to go along with the salmon. Sounds like we will be BBQ tonight!

Got to get to work - have a spectacular day!!

Lisa, thanks for the great ideas. I have started doing squats using my exercise ball and have added the wall pushups as well although I only do them with a closer arm position so will try to vary it by widening my arm positions. I haven't tryed the bicycles, Not sure how to do them without getting on the floor. I have however started doing the standing abbuctions and adductions. I think doing the bicycles on the bed or on my wide adoman may be worth a try.

I'm back using my recumbant bike in the garage now that it's not cold. I do get hot though with it being 90*+ temps. I need to get back to the pool but am waiting for my back to heal more since having the mole removed. I need to keep it covered with a bandade with oitment applied. My hubby helps change it in the morning and evening but don't think anyone at the pool would enjoy helping me if it's all wet, so decided to wait another week.

I do appreciate the help though. I just need to get on a routine and do it regularly and everyday. I'm doing better with my food but I need to still work on that as well. I just need to make up my mind to get it done first thing in the AM. If I sit down to watch TV or get on the computer it's forgotten.

Cooler today only 80* so that's a plus. By Friday it'll be 67* and cooler at night. I prefere it to stay around 70* but without the humidity the hotter temps seem to bring.

Hope everyone is keeping up with their exercise and healthy eating. Have a great day. G.emoticonemoticonemoticon

G, I firmly believe that if a person did 3 basic exercise, with a few variations at times, they could tone their whole body. 1. Push-ups: they work the upper body mostly, and abs somewhat. Doing them in three hand positions (wide, normal, close) will target all the areas of the arms and shoulders. 2. Squats: they work the lower body-- arms can be held above the head to make the abs help with balance. Again, doing these with a variety of stance widths will engage a variety of leg muscles. 3. Bicycles: these work abs primarily, but also do wonders for the obliques, which are often forgotten about. Adding some cardio, like your swimming, will help also.

Starting out with wall push ups, supported squats and seated bicycles will help you to learn proper form, and it gives you a progression to work towards.

Lisa, it's so nice that people are noticing your weight loss and toned body. I wish I could figure what's going on with me. I've been swelling in the ankles and lower legs. I'm taking water pills but it doesn't seem to be doing any good. They are so swollen I have trouble getting shoes on my feet. Then the shoes leave deep lines where the insole crosses. Usually at night the swelling goes down but lately they are still swollen in the morning. I'm trying to increase my water in hopes that it will help. I really think it's due to the fact I'm not exercising as much now.

I'll try to get to the Y tomorrow for my class and maybe that will help. It's been hot and humid already got to 93* on Sunday, we did have rain last night and this morning so it's cooled some but still warm. Maybe this early heat is effecting me and causing the swelled extremities.

Mk, Tostadas do sound good but I'm not sure how to make them. I do enchiladas and tacos but never tried tostadas.. They do sound like it would be a nice change of pace for a meal.

Hope the day finds everyone doing great. I too need to get beck to eating right and more exercise. Lisa, I wish you could show me a few good exercises too so I can have a great routine. Take care everyone enjoy the evening. G.

Tostadas sound good, but don't make them myself, as I just haven't had success.

The coolest thing happened to me this afternoon. I was at the local coffee shop, and saw a gal who asked me about how often I exercise. She has recently lost some weight, and looks good, but she is frustrated with her saggy arms, and she asked me if I could help her with exercises. Shes's 63, and a great grandmother, but she is healthy and always so complimentary and interested in the lives of others. We chatted, and I told her to call,e, and I'd show her some things she could do every day, and then progress to more challenging variations. Then the gal at the counter was acting all interested, but it wasn't sincere.

My husband wants to take new pictures, because he says I may not have lost much weight over the past year, but I have transformed my body, and he insists I won't notce it unless I see pictures. He's probably right, although he'll probably photograph in a manner that is for his benefit rather than mine. Strict instructions will be necessary.

Even though I'd like to lose more weight, I'm focusing more on how I want my body to look, and I'm close. My lower abs/tummy area and thighs are where I still have the most work to do.

Relaxing day today, loving it.

Good morning! Day 8 done.... wasn't sure about it because I had to take a part one of the arms of the elliptical, but I got the handle tightened and back together and put my time on.

Food has been awful this weekend. Really needing more veggies and so I'm getting a good salad at lunch today.

It was a long 4 day weekend for the state workers. We had a furlough day on Friday - it was nice and I was going to spend all day at the art center, but ended up with a damaged thumb because of my son's dog. I took him in the morning to the pet store and when he jumped out of the truck my thumb got pinched and tore a small hole in it from the metal clips. So after much bleeding and finishing what I went to the pet store for... I headed out to my doc's in hopes that he would be there - he was. I thought it needed stitches, but he said it was in a bad place so we will steri-strip it. So my thoughts of wheel throwing all weekend was gone.

We had friends over Saturday night and made tostada's - they were great and so were the friends. At first she called and said she was suffering from a migraine but then forced herself to come anyway - she was happy she did and so was her husband. It was a nice evening.

Well I have to get working - looks like my data is ready - oh joy!

have a great day!

We had a fun gathering last night, really casual and simple, but the company was great. Still cool today, but I got a 3+ mile walk in already. I'm going to make rhubarb jam today, and I'll give most of it away. I like it, but I just don't eat much of it because of the high sugar content.

Other than that, I'm going to read, and then watch The Hatfield's and McCoys. We taped it last night, and will do so again tonight. The history lover in me decided this would be a good one to watch, plus, I generally like Kevin Costner movies. The book I'm presently readin is historical fiction, and then I have a long list of non-fiction I want to read.

I have to work tomorrow and Thursday, And then I need to get my windows cleaned, but will wait until it warms up a little more.

Have a fine Tuesday.

They came over yesterday and spent the day and I was able to hold her some. We were at Don's Mothers place so had to share her. She has already grown some since I saw her 2 weeks ago.

Today will be very hot, summer weather at 95* but at least the humidity not here yet. I hear we're to get some rain later, maybe it'll cool things down We do need the rain though everything is getting dry. We want to do some planting today. Some lemon thyme, peppers and some tomatoes.

Have a great cookout. Thanks to all those serving the Armed Service. Lisa, especially thank your boys. They are a blessing to our freedom. Happy Memorial Day.emoticon

Happy Memorial Day. Sunny and cool, and a bit breezy, but still ok for outdoor activities. We are having a small group over for a simple barbecue tonight, maybe 10 people.

Exercise done. MK, my record is 17 consecutive days of exercise. You'll find that routine once again.

How's that new baby girl, G? I do hope you are getting loads of grandma time.

Hi. Just a quick hello and a good memorial day to both of you!

Day 6 was today and I've got day 7 in the morning. Iveenjoyed getting back into a routine with exercise - tho 6 days is not quite a routine. Anyway - it will all be good. 7 days was my first goal and hitting double digits (10) is my second. One day at a time.

My long term goal is to do the elliptical every day until my sons graduation day (June18).

Well it's 11:32 pm here. Talk to you later.

Blessings to everyone who is or has family who is or has been in the military! Thank you for your service!!

I too can't always understand what people are thinking wearing clothes whose fit is not good. There is a time to show ones boobs and times you don't. I too am a clothes watcher. It always gets me when girls wear tank tops where the arms holes show their bras and the bra straps show as well. I saw a large sized lady just coming out of Kroger the other day with what appeared to be a sun dress, no bra, and so short if she bent over we all would have a a look see of her behind not to mention the other private area. Obviously way to short and way to tight for a women of her size. What was she thinking? I wish sometime people would wear the right bra for a tank top and not show everything.

Hope the weekend is a good one for all. We are going to a cookout at Don's Mom's place. I am also excited because my daughter and family have decided to come over as well. I can't wait to see my new grandchild again and of course her big sister as well.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day everyone. G.emoticonemoticon

I just have to share this story --I'll try to keep it short. First of all why are women sooo proud of showing their boobs? Maybe you remember several weeks ago on BL when Kim was in a bikini, but her boobs were falling out all over.

I was shopping today, and tried on a dress, as did the gal in the fitting room next to me. She was about half m height, and it was one of those long maxi dresses. Ok,,so the attendant realizes we are trying on the exact same dress, so she's asks us to come out, because I'm tall, the other gal short, so it was a fun comparison type thing. Anyway, the dress loks pretty nice on me, but the neckline was deep, so cleavage was apparent. It was tasteful for certain occasions, but not for work. The other gals boobs were spilling out, and she had a cami underneath, and it looked awful, but she loved it. Oh my! it was too long for her, but she was talking about alterations. I didn't buy it, be ause I,wouldn't have an occasion at which to wear it, but the other gal was going to buy the dress. How do you tell someone it looked awful? The attendant and I exchanged glances, but that was it. I've come to the conclusion that the difference was bra fit, and clothes look so much better when a good fitting bra is underneath. I'm not a fashion expert, but sometimes I'd just like to say " there's something better for you." I suppose the attendant took a risk by asking both of us to show her the dress I'm sure it might help her direct future customers.

My shopping trip was a success. I found some very nice things for summer and for the early school year. I even got some really cute things for Paige.

Happy Memorial Day weekend.

Good morning. Day 4 done. Again it was difficult, I went to bed late and overslept, but I did not deter from getting my rear on the elliptical again. Really looking forward to the double digit day!!!

Great job on the workout Lisa - my daughter does a bunch of odd stuff to keep her muscles guessing. She does a one-legged squat while standing on one of those half ball thing and she does a lot of planking. I have a picture of her planking across the back of two chairs - she was in the cafeteria or something like that. I'll see if I can get that posted on my page.

Raining again... no surprise here. Suppose to be nice this weekend. We have a state furlough day tomorrow and a holiday on Monday - so it will be a nice long weekend!! I think I'm going to spend tomorrow at the art center throwing on the wheel.

Well got to go. Take care ladies!!

Oh and Georgie - is that a mole or a mold that you've been referring to? can people get mold? hope its better!

Great bodyweight workout done this morning. I am learning how to make some of the lower body work mor challenging, but the upper body moves already challenge me. For the first time today, I did some shoulder press pushups--you put ,your feet on a bench, lean down and put hands on the floor, and do push ups in that position. It is kind of like a pike position, I guess. I liked these, but they were tough, so I look forward to improving them.

Dog is up at groomer's right now, so I did some errands, and am now wanting a nap, but need to pick her up soon.

Glad to hear you are both back to exercising. I can't go more than a few days without exercise.

Lisa

So tired today. I was up at 5:30 to take Don to work so I could have the car. I will dread taking him when his company moves it'll be another 15 to 20 minute drive then.

My mold was removed today and they will do a biopsy to see if there were any issues. It's right at my bra's back strap so a little uncomfortable. He said though just as long as I wear a bandage I could go into the water. I'm anxious to get back to my water aerobics class again. It's been almost a month since I was last there.

I am about ready for a short nap before I pick up Don again. I guess I'll get off for a while. Have a great afternoon. G.

Good morning! Oregon is getting a bit of stormy weather as well... yesterday was more rain in the valley with thunder storms along the gorge and eastern part - well I guess there was some at the North coast area... anyway...

Tuna... yeah my husband went tuna fishing with a guy last year and came home with a large cooler full of tuna. I canned and canned and then canned some more. Finally got tired of that and froze large chunks of it in ziplocks - we have one more bag left. We are able to get large amount of tuna steaks and we BBQ. But the canned tuna - a bit of water a bit of sea salt and pressure cook. Best stuff in the world!!!

Wednesday farmers market today. I'll probably head down there to see what the organic farms have. Last week I was so impressed with all the veggies... they looked so good. I just wish they were not so expensive - you'd think it would be cheaper considering they don't use pesticides.

Day 3 elliptical - almost didn't do it. I woke up later than normal, but I got up and got on it!

Will get a walk in at lunch - to the market for fresh veggies!

Take care! Have a spectacular day!

Windy, 30 mph+, and strong t-storms predicted this evening. We need the rain. Since I'm so brave, I decided to ride bike for 10 miles, but 6 did me in, so will have to tack the other 4 onto a ride on another day. Worked this morning, just relaxing and catching up on some things this afternoon.

MK, I love good quality tuna. I don't cook it very well, so I spend the money when it is available around here, but I also buy the white tuna in cans. I have a feeling yours is far better than I've ever had.

G, I will buy sweet potatoes, carrots and onions, cube them up and roast them in the oven with a bit of olive oil and salt and pepper. They'll keep in the frig for about a week, and it is something different.

Have a fine Tnuesday evening.

I really need to stock up on my food. I have very little fruit in the house and my veggies are down to celery a few carrots and a partial head of lettuce. No tomatoes, broccoli, cauliflower,or anything else. Even my frozen stuff is gone. Meat run this weekend along with a veggie and fruit run. I think I'm even low on my canned veggies, breads, beans, and legumes. I wish I had a car and I'd travel to the farmers markets around here. They always have fresh produce of some kind.

Weather cool today. I've opened up but it even feels a little to cool so will close some of my windows and just leave the back door open, it's the only door that has a screen.

Tomorrow the dermatologist and maybe I'll check out and see if any markets are up and running. Today is house work and laundry. I'm really bored and want to munch, but good thing nothing in the house to munch on, which is good. I stopped buying chips and other such snack foods. I might heat up a tortilla and make chips from it. I'd love to be able to eat that with some salsa.

Hope the day finding all great. Take care and keep up the healthy eating and exercise. Bye for now, G.

Good morning! Good food day yesterday. Really need to keep on top of what I have in the fridge and make it ready to grab and go for my lunches. Such as the watermelon - I or my husband cut it all up and have it ready to go in a large bowl - easy to take my small container of it. Same for the honey dew and other fruits. Also have string cheese available for my snack. Its the little things that keep me eating better.

Last night I opened up a jar of our home canned tuna and had some of that for dinner - it was really good. I have more of it in my lunch today - so I'm all set.

Day 2 on the elliptical - we shall see how many days I go. My first goal is 7 days and go from there. Ultimately I'd like to reach 30 days or more. Nothing big - just a small goal. I'm also walking at lunch again - so that is added to my daily movement goal.

Wow - school is done already! How exciting for you.

Georgie - take care - get out and walk if you can.

Yep, out of school. Today wasn't work day for teachers. I'll work two more days, and then be done. I'm off contract after today, but I still have work to do.

All is good here, although my weight was up this morning, so need to pay attention to that.

After my eggs are boiled, I'll take the dog for a walk, hopefully we can do 3 miles tonight.

It's good that the dogs will have a larger place to hang out and still be near people when you have a BBQ. I sometimes wish I could let my dogs run the house while I gone, but I think they sometimes prefer their kennels.

The dogs are underfoot today. I think there is a storm coming. The wind picking up and it's getting darker out. I think they can sense when a storm is near. I also hear thunder so I guess they are right.

Not Y today. I have this mold on my back the is red and is sore. I wasn't sure if I could go into the pool so I didn't. It's been looking like this for a week almost 2 now with a pink ring around it, but couldn't get into the dermatologist until this Wednesday the 23. I sure hope it's nothing serious. It's right where the back of my bra crosses., or maybe just above that, anyway I decided to get it checked out and removed. It'll probably mean I'll need to stay clear of the pool until it's healed.

Hope the day finds everyone having a great week. Lisa, are you out of school yet? The students last day here is Wednesday the 23th. MK, have a great walk and keep up the excellent work planning you meals and snacks. Catch all later, G.

Good morning. Well we got a great outdoor kennel for our son's dog. Its a 10x10 with a cover. Today is his first bit of time in it.... well we did put him in off and on yesterday so he could get use to it a bit. My husband is home today so the dog will get more "practice" time in the kennel before he has to do a long day out there. This will be good for him... plus we can put our dogs in there when we have a family BBQ - our little dogs can be such a pain and they snip at people - so I like to put them in their kennels, but this will offer a larger place for them as well.

Elliptical this morning and I'll get a walk in for lunch time. I'm set up with lots of fruit and salad stuff for lunch/snacks.

Well I have to get to work! Take care!

Good evening. A little excitement around our neighborhood this evening. A Hot Air Balloon almost landed in our back yard. It first tried to land in the park near us, but to close to the pond so put more air into it and barely made it over the houses. He finally landed in the field across from our neighbors house, just one street over. It almost looked like he landed in the neighbors yard but didn't. He finally gave it up and deflated it. Interesting to see how he operates it. It defiantly caused a stir around us and many onlookers. My dogs don't like the noise the burners make so were hiding in the back of the house. They finally did come out back with us but the balloon was already down.

Hope you weekend going great. Don watching the All Star Race for NASCAR so I'm in here on the computer. I might join him later to watch the ending. It's a few hours though and I don't watch all of it. I'll catch everyone later tomorrow. Good Night. G.emoticon

Lisa, I think most companies are required to let the guard off for their training. I think they also need to hold their position for the time they are gone. It's nice that he is excited about working. I know he'll do great.

Enjoy Paige, It sounds like she is developing her own personality. I think tantrums are just a part of growing and learning. Glad they are mild and she does well with timeouts.

My granddaughter( the 3 year old) has had a few but lately seems to be a little more often. I think part of this is adjusting to her new sister and still wanting all her mom and dad's attention instead of sharing. It'll take time for her to understand and I think my daughter is doing a great time playing and talking with her and her dad pinch hits when mom's busy with the new baby, feeding and such. They let her help by handing the wipes or holding a toy over the baby while they change her. She also tells everyone who comes to wash their hands before touching her sis. She's doing a great job and will develop into a wonderful big sis

We'll be home today and catching up on yard work, weeding and finally setting up the fountain and extending the back garden, and preparing it for my vegetables, I'm planting tomatoes and peppers again this year and again some herbs.

Lisa, it sounds like you have a new exercise plan started. Hope it goes great for you. Everyone have a super weekend and enjoy the graduation and Paige. It's to be 82* today with sun. The humidity is still down which makes for a wonderful day. Bye for now. G.

G, my son will be stocking, and then working a bit in electronics. He will be on an early morning crew a few days per week to unload trucks and then will spend the weekend hours in electronics. I told him I'd buy him the khakis for his "work" uniform. He is so excited, because that were happy to accommodate his 3 week obligation this summer for Guards and camp counseling.

I started a new workout today: all body weight strength training for four weeks. I'll do this 4 days per week, and then cardio intervals 2-3 days per week. Doggy and I are still doing our evening walks, but 2 miles is about her limit.

We get Paige again today. She is staying overnight and going to church with us tomorrow. She is a typical 20 month old--lots of energy, often naughty, but her tantrums are mild, and she responds well to time out. She loves to play rough, but hasn't quite figured out that not everyone likes rough play.

Chores today, graduations tomorrow.

Have a super Saturday.

Lisa, sounds like Target will be a good place to work for your son. If MK, is right about all it offers it's employees, he may have a chance to advance into a better position. What is he going to be doing? Stocking, or cashier or something else. It looks like all is shaping up for your families.

Last day of school for the kids Lisa? I know the staff has to stay to do the final grades and put the supplies up or boxed in the rooms so the cleaning staff can do repairs and maintenance for the school. I'm sure there will be a lot you'll need to do as well before you can leave for the summer. Hope all will go smoothly for you as you prepare for the end of school.

Today another sunny day and I'll walk today. It looks like the workers are finished with the road work and I'll be able to walk without tracking in the tar. It's getting warmer here and will be near 80* but I don't mind as long as the humidity stay down and we have a breeze blowing.

I have to go to the dermatologist this Wednesday, I have a mold on my back which is bothering me and it's looking red and irritated. It's about where my bra strap is and I think it's rubbing it and causing the issue. I should have done something about it before but now, but it hasn't been a problem until now. I'll have it removed, and it will probably keep me from the pool for a while but it'll be worth it to stop it from continuing to create problems.

Well lunch time has arrived so I need to get off and eat. I'll also be cleaning my house some more. It's driving me crazy even though it's really not that bad but again the dogs are shedding more and the fur is everywhere. This week I'll also have them groomed and shaved down for the summer. I can't do this for my American Eskimo but I think I'll be able to for my other one. Everyone have a wonderful afternoon and evening. Catch all later. G.

Remember the phrase "put the best construction on everything? Well my issue one day was rewarded the next. After my sense of unreasonable expectations passed, all turned out very weel, and I must agree that until I finished that project, my principal was probably not sure of what he wanted--other than a completed schedule.

Exercise has suffered this week. My days were long, and I simply wasn't sleeping, but shortly, doggy and I are going for a walk. Last day with students tomorrow, and done by noon. We have to stay, but that's ok, and then Monday we have a day to finish up, clean up, and the like. I'm anxious to have that time to prepare for next school year.

MK enjoy your visits with your kids. My son just got hired today at Target. He's excited. It is, by far, my favorite discount store. I hope the job opportunity works well for everyone.

Get back to exercising G. I will too. I had a short walk yesterday, but not enough to count as exercise. I'm out the door!

Lisa

MK, glad your son doing well. Do you think this girl might become more than just a friend? It sounds like Target has more to offer than just a retail store selling clothes and things. I hope the job works out for her as well.

Food better but I'm still not eating as I should. I can really see that my not exercising is making my legs and feet swell. I've started taking the water pills I have but I really need to exercise more on a regular bases.

I had my new crown put in today and talked to them about the bill. They said they haven't got the insurance payments yet but will adjust it as needed after they do. I sure hope so. I will need to check on this to be sure they follow through with it. They said it'll be a couple of weeks yet.

Today beautiful with mild temps and sun. I was going to walk today but the are putting tar down all over the cracks in the road, and I don't want to walk through it so will wait until they are done and it has had a chance to dry more. It'll probably be a couple more days until they have finished the plat. It's driving the dogs crazy too with the big trucks and the workers walking along side them. I only hope the finish soon. It's really smelly and I'd like to open up my house if not for the smell.

I need to go now because I have to pick up Don. I'll talk to all later. Have a wonderful day. G.

Good morning!

Well Lisa - it won't be long and the end of the school year will be here! Take care of you - hope your getting things worked out with the principal. I have found that when someone keeps changing things around - they are not really sure what they want and it takes someone else to hold up a mirror to show them how they are and just how important their leadership decisions are to those around them. It will all come around.

My son is doing well. The girl he brought home for dinner is a sweet heart - I can see the friendship that they have. She is working hard to finish this year and graduate because Target corporation wants her to head up a new store in California - so she is taking 23 credits each semester this past year just so she can get done early and have this opportunity. She is very excited. Her major is in Environmental studies and business and apparently there is a lot to bring to the table at Target (I was shocked by this as well). Anyway - nice girl and very focused, but so much more relaxed than the ex-girlfriend was.

Made a veggie kinda thing last night with sweet potatoes, kale, chard, spinach, onion, garlic and toasted sesame seed oil -I like it - my husband said he liked it, but it was missing something. So I'm heading over to the organic food store where they make this wonderful dish and see what I'm missing. It was for dinner last night and will be for me tonight as well!

Having lunch with my daughter today - that should be fun. I think her boyfriend is still in town, but I'm not sure if I'll meet him or not - I don't think he is ready for that.

Well have a great day ladies!!

Swamped here, tough situation at school, and I'm under the gun to get next year's schedule done. This is quite an issue, and I won't go into it, but let's just say my principal has been somewhat unreasonable-- as he keeps changing things.

Sounds like you both are doing well. I'll write again soon, but all is pretty good.

MK, glad your son is moving on. He may just be testing the water to see if he's ready to really move on. I'd sit and wait and see if it progresses further rather than jump to conclusions.

Today over cast but nice out I'll walk later, I'm not exercising and really need to get out and move. Even if it's just a walk down the street and back. I've been worried lately and find myself grazing instead of eating and planning a healthy snack or meal. I see the dentist again on Thursday and hate to go but will need to get my new crown so I must. Anyway I want to talk to them about my charges. I looked at the insurance and it said that all but $150 was covered. They said my new bill was going to be $900 including a past due amount. I want to make sure they do not over charge me!! I don't want to pay more than I actually owe.

Well I'm late eating lunch so will stop now and get some food. Hope everyone having a super day. Bye for now. G.emoticon

Good morning. I got some walking in yesterday for my lunch - so happy to finally find the time and it was good weather on top of it!! I'm going to try and get one in today as well - but I also have errands so it will be a short one.

Well apparently my son is getting over his loss - he is bringing a "friend" home for dinner tonight. He keeps telling me I'm reading more into it than it is and has gotten rather gruff with me about my thoughts and jokes.... I'm a mom - no mom likes to see their children get hurt. Personally I think he is moving too fast, but you know - he is almost 25 - I'll just keep my mouth shut. The hard part is - this new "friend" has the same name as the last one... I don't even want to hear that name - so I've asked him to use her last name when talking about her. Crazy - I know - but just for now... we shall see how things are tonight.

Got to get to working... take care!

Lisa,The end of the year at school always made me teary-eyed too. Even as a substitute, the seniors would have a dress-up day the last week before graduation and as a full time student, the rest of the week was a fun week. A talent show day, Commencement practice, and one last day with the yearbooks to be signed by teachers and their friends. The very last week of school was with the undergraduates that was really only 3 days but the seniors always got out earlier than the rest of the school. I had taught many of the students from grade school through their senior year and I always was emotional at this time.

Mothers Day was quite here at home. We had celebrated with my daughter and new grand baby and my son and his girls at her house on Saturday. It was so much fun seeing all together again. Moira, the 3 year old, got upset because everyone was holding her new sis, Sadie, more than she did but after a few tears and a hug from mommy she was better. It's hard for her to understand that she will be able to hold her sis anytime but visitors only this one time and then they would have to leave and not see her for several days, weeks, or even months. I think too that she has a bit of jealousy going because her parents have to spend more time with her new sis than her. My daughter is breast feeding so she has to leave the room and go up to the master bedroom to do this, and if the baby not eating very much at a time has to use the pump. It's an adjustment for everyone.

Anyway, things are getting back to normal and I'm finally catching up on laundry and house work. I've neglected this for way to long! My garden is in full bloom with my Irises all out and my roses starting to bloom as well. The temps have been in the mid 60* range and today will get into the low 70* range. We had rain for Mother's Day but today is overcast but nice out. I'm going to take a walk later. I feel that with all that's happening I'm not exercising and eating has been fast food and pizza. I'm not able to go to the Y until the neighbor I ride with returns from her trip. In the evenings I'm just not wanting to go then so I decided I need to walk everyday no matter what, and get my eating back on track.

Hope the week finds everyone doing great and that you are all exercising and eating right. Take care. G.

Good morning! Happy Belated Mother's Day to you. Yesterday was a completely laid back day. I was able to finally finish working on the lean-to - at least the bracing part - now all we have is the corrugated metal to put on the roof!! After that I'll build some shelving for the chemicals and stuff - probably a larger workbench along one side so that my husband has a place to work on the mowers.

Our daughter came over and helped my husband BBQ a nice meal for the Mother's day thing. I also got 2 doz roses - 1 from my daughter and 1 from my husband. They are beautiful - I'm more of a fan of live plants - but roses are always nice to see!!!

Our son went with a couple of the friends and made the 7 hour drive to another friends wedding and then back home.... crazy kids - oh to be that age and make a 14 hour drive in one day. He said the wedding was beautiful and he wished he could have stayed. One of the friends he went with did stay up there and will return with family.

Oatmeal this morning along with a banana. I really do like my oatmeal in the morning - it just sticks with me clear until lunch time.

Well I have to get to work. Take care.

Just thinking here about the week ahead-- last year at this time I was frantically preparing for son's graduation. Next Sunday is graduation here in town, and it just feels dully odd to be out of the loop. I no longer work at this school, and I no longer have any children attending. Nostalgia has set in, and it makes me a little tear-y.

My pots look lovely, so much color added to the front. I have to repair some of my edging-- it is coming out of the ground. I may begin to put in something easier to maintain.

I'm low on groceries, but I still have enough to get through the week. Every once in awhile, I become determined to make do and use up, and I think this is the week for that, especially since this is my last week to take lunch to school. We have students until noon on Friday, and then teachers return for in-service on Monday. I'll probably work most of that week, and then the following week I have two days of admin meetings, which I get paid for, thank goodness!

Have a fine week, low 80's predicted here. I'm happy, but do worry about a dry summer.

Do take care.

Congrats G. I'm sure your weekend has been wonderful, and Mother's Day is obviously extra special this year.

Had the whole family here for dinner last night. We make quite a group, even though it was a little unexpected. Youngest son drove home and surprised me, and he cleaned up his room. I am so glad he chose to attend college near us.

Church shortly, and then I need to do some school work. We had our family gathering for Mother's Day last night, so it'll be a quiet day here.

I found out this week that I will get paid for some of my days of work after school is work, and thenI'll have to comp the rest. It is nearly impossible to have my work done by the last day of school.

I will finish up my flower pots today, and then I have to find a few nice perennials to replace two that I lost over the winter. Two years in a row, I've lost my daisies, and last winter wasn't even a hard one, so will go with something else.

MK, have a fine Mother's Day, and wishing your son continued progress as he finds his place in this world.

Lisa

I took several pictures of the new grand girl and her big sis and also my son's girls were over to visit the new arrival so will try to post them on my page. So cute. The older grand girls look so grown up. I can't believe how fast they grow. We are very proud of them all.

Tired today and hope I have enough coffee for the morning. With all that's happening I haven't had a chance to shop for us. Will have to do that tomorrow.

Don tired too glad we have Sunday to rest before the week begins. I hope everyone has a great Mother's Day. We had ours today at my daughter's house. Enjoy yours too. G.

Happy weekend. We have grand kids for today, so it will be fun. I'm making some bbq'd beef for an evening meal, as I think everyone will be here. I really don't care about going out on Mother's Day. I 'd rather cook, so I can control better what I eat. More outside work tomorrow. That makes me really happy.

G, looking forward to that baby news.

Take care.

CONGRATULATIONS Georgie!!! Sounds like a very healthy baby!!

It is going to be another glorious day - lots of sunshine - I'm hoping to go soak it up at lunch. We are suppose to get into the high 80's/low 90's by Monday - so mama's day will be beautiful.

My son is leaving today to drive to his friends wedding. His friend (my "2nd" son) is here from Texas and is going with him. I hope they have a wonderful time.

My daughter is getting a taste of what it is like with our son's dog. She is taking care of him a couple of days. So far he has pulled her off of her bike (which I don't know why she did the bike with him); knocked her in the face with his face (happened to me too); and generally pushed her around. I hope that today is better for her and the dog.

Well I have work calling my name. Take care

Long day yesterday. We traveled over to be with my daughter while she had her baby. 17 hours later she had a 7# 2oz baby girl who was 19 & 1/2 inches long and born with dark hair. Just like my dream. She's beautiful and all are doing well. She was born at 1:04 AM and was very vocal about the whole thing. We are blessed to have 4 healthy granddaughters and are very proud grandparents and proud of our wonderful children too. They are great parents.
We left shortly after her birth to drive home.

We finally rolled into bed at 3:30 last night. I was able to sleep until 9 but am still dragging. Don took today off so he will hang out here and relax the rest of the day. We decided not to travel back over there today but will go see her on Saturday where we'll all celebrate Mother's Day and Don's Birthday. My son is coming over as well to see the baby, so my daughter will have a full house. She said something about a cook out so we'll help with that as well.

Today a beautiful be a cool day and will only be around 60* but at least the sun is shinning. I'll spend a lot of time here emailing everyone in the family about the new arrival. Blessings abound. G.emoticonemoticonemoticon

Good morning. Well Oregon is finally getting some warmer weather - it sure is nice to dry out a bit. We were frosty this morning because of the clear skys, but oh what glorious days for walking!

Hope all is better for you Lisa at school - can't imagine the hectic pace at the end of the school year. Take care of you!!

Georgie - so do you have a new grand baby????? How exciting! Hope your taking care of you as well - get out and walk for a few minutes at least. Happy to hear the pooches are being well cared for!

My son is doing better every day. He has bad days and yesterday was one of them, but he is working through it - one day at a time.

This week has been extremely busy with our business and we are actually starting to fill up the next couple weeks with clean-up jobs. This is great news, but it sure makes my days long and tiring. I have all the paperwork and contracts to keep up with and after being at work in front of a computer all day - it is the last thing I want to do at night - but it must be done.

I worked at the computer Tuesday night until about 11 p.m. trying to get caught up with stuff. The checks are coming in mad and furious (nice) but I have to invoice each job and receive payment etc etc etc

My boss just asked if I wanted to travel some more for work. Well I'm always interested in traveling else where in this country.... so off to Washington DC in August - so hot!!! but I'm hoping I'll get either my husband or my daughter to go with me. I'll be there for 1 week - in conferences mostly but the evening hours will allow for sight seeing.

Well got to go - take care.
