It messes my circadian rhythm. So much that I can't stay awake at 5pm. Then struggle to sleep at 1am.

I'm so over the cold and it's only November. Sigh

Never going to become that obnoxious healthy person! You know what I am talking about!

I love this time of year. I get to wear all of my gorgeous sweaters but I sure will be glad when the sun comes back again.

Early darkness is hard for me. I live in Arizona, so I welcome the cooler weather with open arms -- but now it's dark by 6:00 and I can't hike or ride my bike! My husband and I have started going for a long walk after dinner, but still the bulk of my exercise is in the gym and I would much prefer to be outside!

I also agree with someone else who posted, it's dark when I drive to work and dark not long after I get home which makes me feel like I'm missing out on something!

No not at all. I LOVE it instead. Oh, I USED TO HATE it, but what you can't change, if you don't look for the good (or in this case FUN) it just becomes unbearable. So I CHANGED my thoughts to see what is GOOD about it being dark out at 4:28 (it is now at 4:28) and soon it will be 3:45 so here are a few of my reasons:

1) More acceptable to climb into my comfy PJs easier.

2) No ice cream places are open (I live in Maine all dairy places I like for stands are closed from Oct (or DQ Nov in our city) until March (or later).

3) GREAT time to gather together friends/families for MOVIE NIGHT!

4) FOOTBALL SEASON!! YEAH!!! GOOOOO PATS!

5) Home made BEANS! It's to HOT in the summer to bake them for hours in the oven in a bean pot.

6) SNOW!! WOOHOOOO SNOW!!! BRING IT ON!!!

7) NORTHERN LIGHTS are seen more!! YEAH!!

8) STARS (LOL When it's not snowing! LOL) are MUCH brighter!

See? WOOHOOO!!!

Not a fan of the short days - hate leaving the office in the dark, plus there's no time to play outside with my son in the evening anymore, and so miss that extra opportunity for active time outside. (We play inside, but it's more subdued.)

Starting Weight: 268 lbs. (November 2010)
Quasi-Maintenance: 165 lbs. (June 2011)
Goal Weight: 150 lbs. (reached December 8, 2011)

Size 22W to Size 4

Currently maintaining within 5 lbs. (+ or -) of goal. I weigh daily, but also use a tape measure and the fit of my clothes to guage how well I'm doing.

What makes me happy is my little granddaughters don't now have to go to the school bus in the dark at 6:35 a.m. In fact, yesterday morning they said "Oh, why is the sun back up now?" "Have we missed the bus?"

I hate winter time, but I certainly can deal with it being dark at 5 pm, a lot better than dark in the morning.

Sometimes, I love sunny weather. Living in western Washington and having to contend with weeks of rain and darkness can get a little disheartening. Just keep lots of lights on, I work puzzles, or have projects I can work on when this time of year comes. But sometimes it can make you want to get in your jammies early, light some candles and watch a little tv. Growing up in Wisconsin we had 4 defineate seasons. Here we have 2 seasons summer, and then (spring fall and winter kinda blend with the rain).

It takes some mental and physical adjustments to cope, but I've been doing this all my Life, since I've always lived in NW Washington or British Columbia....

I find that in the dark seasons, I finally get around to doing projects like crochet, etc while I watch TV at night...guilt free! In the Light Seasons, I'm just as likely to be out puttering in my garden at 8pm at night...and loving those evening sunsets. Ditto for the mornings: sunrises really get me going on the right track for my day! When it is after 8am...seems like half my day is gone already.
To make up for sitting more, I do have to Up My Indoor Evening Exercise, or I don't sleep well due to muscle tightness, aches and pains. I still try to get outside every day, rain, snow or sun, for a good hour or more as well.

I always used to hate the end of daylight saving time, but now I live at the very western edge of my time zone, and I look forward to it so I can have more daylight in the morning. I wake with the sun and it's really, really hard for me to get up and get ready for work in the dark. It will be a problem again by January, but for now I'm looking forward to a couple of months of easier morning. I do hate losing my evening sunlight, though.

What I really, really want is for some brilliant NASA scientist to figure out how we can get the extra hour in the morning and still keep it light until at least 8pm!

Not unhappy but I do miss the light in the morning and evening. Since working all day, I either have to walk in the dark or use the treadmill at the gym.

it used to make me unhappy,
but in the past 6 years not anymore,
thanks to outdoor exercise and and 30 minutes of blue light therapy every morning.

I love to walk in the dark, but then I live in SE TX the length of our days doesn't change that much. We still have over night lows in the 70's and highs in the 90's. I'll be wearing caprices and tee shirt most of what you guys will call winter. We have 4 seasons, almost summer, summer, still summer and 2 weeks of something else.

Objects in the mirror will get thinner than they now appear

Not very much, but I dread the final month of it just before it begins getting lighter out.

I love the long light evenings of summer, though I'm not so keen on it being light at 4.00 am. We changed our clocks last week, so now we have sunset at 5.00 pm (ish)

I'm retired so the dark mornings don't bother me, but I don't like the dark afternoons/early evenings. Where I live we will have sunset at around 4.00 pm for most of December, so I really look forward to the time when we can start to see the days get longer again.

I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.

I hate when it gets dark early. It makes me want to stay inside and not go anywhere because my brain equates dark with bedtime. I hate getting to work before the sun rises and leaving after the sun sets (or at the very least by the time I get home from work the sun is gone). I get sleepy when it's dark outside, so I don't even want to run errands like going to the grocery store.

When living in the mid-west the shorter sunlight hours bothered me. I dreaded middle to late fall weather and what followed till middle spring. It was almost always grey and cloudy also.

Now living in Florida, the shorter day light days do not bother me. The sun shines more often this time of year. That has made a difference for me.

Yes it does. Dusk at 2pm, sundown by five. Gives me a bad case of the blahs.

When the days start getting longer. I start feeling better.

Reading summer magazines during the winter would depress me so much. I would probably need to be hospitalized.

Winter is hateful cold and ugly. Summer is beautiful and lovely

no- I feel cozy with darkness outside my pulled blinds, and inside lights on before dinner.

But I do prefer early sunrises of summer months better than the cold dark mornings of winter

not at first, but after a few weeks as daylight gets less and less, yes!

when we FINALLY get past the winter solstice and the days start to get a tiny bit longer I notice the change and feel more like my usual, happy self.

As for me I enjoy the evenings drawing in sooner at this time of year. When evenings ast its long shadows it gives me the feeling of coziness. That seems to be a time for me,as people do not seem to visit as much. I like reading up on summer magazines that I purposely save for the winter. Cleaning my closets, and cupboards is a favorite during winter months, making decisions on anything that must be done the following spring, and making plans for the following years vacation. We started early with that January down south away from the North East,May is Disney World, and the Fall is going cross country by train . So dark evenings drawing in early gives me plenty of plan time & cozy reading how about you?
