I LOVE them! I just started drinking French vanilla protein shakes with some fruit and spinach thrown in and they're fabulous. I want to mix it with chocolate almond milk and see if it kills my chocolate cravings :)

Yes! I am a big believer in them. You will want to try a variety of them if you choose to try them. I suggest going to a body building store/nutrition store and getting some single serve packets. That way you can find one you like. They all taste a bit different, so it is important to get one you like. I agree with a previous post that some are made better than others too.
You will also want to have a good blender that crushes ice. I use an expensive blend-tec blender -- but used to use a Magic Bullet blender (and that is a great personal-sized blender that is easy to clean up because you drink right out of the blending cup). We only switched to the Blend-tec because my husband is really into making big batches of green smoothies and you need something super powerful to break up frozen fruit like mango, strawberries, etc. He also makes enough to take to work for lunch and the blend-tec makes big batches more manageable. But, in my opinion, the Magic Bullet is a great little blender for protein shakes for around $50.
Personally, I use "Spirotein" powder. It is the best taking shake I have tried and it has a lot of vitamins and Spirolina. It is not frothy/foamy/gritty tasting like some powders and it is full of vitamins. You can get it at Mother's Market, Sprouts, or on-line through Amazon. The two flavors I love are "Nutty Berry Burst" and "Chocolate Peanut Butter." They taste amazing and make you feel great! I mix mine with ice and vanilla almond milk for a great tasting breakfast or post-workout nutrition in under 200 calories. I often will add some spinach in my blender too. You can't taste it and it adds an extra punch of nutrition.
You can also use protein powder to make protein pudding, protein pancakes, and many other recipes. Just check out bodybuilder.com or other sites on-line.

When I am trying to lose weight .... protein shakes, diet formulas, and smoothies, never really satisfied me. I never had trouble with dealing with too few calories. If I am low one day, I know I'll make up for it the next. I would prefer real food....fruit, yogurt, cheese, nuts...to fill the gap.
I'm not a huge breakfast eater...especially in the hot summer months. I like to make a chocolate or vanilla Shakeology shake with a powdered peanut butter. It's delicious and it keeps me full until lunch. Sometimes I even have one at night when I'm craving something sweet....tastes like a chocolate milkshake from the ice cream stand but is good for me : ) It is pricey but I figure 3.50 a day for a healthy breakfast isn't all that bad really.

Does anyone use protein shakes? I am usually low on calories and protein at the end of the day and one of these seems to help balance but I wonder if it would be better just to skip it. I like GNC Total Lean™ Lean Shake™ 25... Thoughts?
