I have a feeling this is one of the many, many cases in which correlation does not equal causation, According to the abstract, they "...examined the association between exposure to LAN and obesity in questionnaire data from over 100,000 women." And questionnaire data is pretty, well, questionable. Especially when it comes to caloric intake.
On a personal level, I've been working Nocs throughout pretty much the entirety of my weight loss journey. I do find myself wanting to eat more when I've slept poorly, but heat (always greater during the day) seems to be the biggest problem for me, rather than light - I've got my window pretty thoroughly covered, but no AC.

Hope you are doing better....I have never worked nights but could only imagine.
I did have a time when sleep was not my friend. I no longer watch TV in the bedroom, don't want the news or anything negative or violent before bed. Removed all lights and sleep in total black darkness, run a humidifier for white noise and I sleep like a baby now!
I can only read the abstract, but I have read similar theories as well. When I was having insomnia, I covered all the clocks/lights in the bedroom, and put my phone on silent and put it in a drawers so there are no lights in the room. I found it helped a lot with my not being able to sleep through the night. Occasionally I find myself awake, but not for months on end.I'm adding a blackout shade to my daughter's room as well - mostly because everyone seems to sleep better when there is no light.
Something to think about. I worked nights for many years, slowly gaining weight throughout. I can't say that was the whole reason, because I wasn't eating properly during that time either... but it does raise some questions and considerations for trying to shed those gained pounds now. aje.oxfordjournals.org/content/early/2014/ 05/29/aje.kwu117.short?rss=1
