If you're a woman and you're not past menopause, weighing every 28 days (the same day of the week, every 4th week) makes a lot of sense. Since weight fluctuates with hormonal cycles, looking at every 28 days gives you a truer picture of what's happening with actual body fat, not with water or some combination. Not only is weekly weighing not necessary, it's better to skip it if you're likely to be disturbed in any way by a higher or lower scale reading than you expected.
Maintenance is a different story. Many of us who are or have been in maintenance weight every day, so small changes don't sneak up on us.

For me, the scale is a necessary evil -- I actually weigh daily, and get in trouble when I don't.
But if weighing in is doing the opposite, and making this more difficult for you -- then swear it off for a while. The scale is just one way of staying on track. Maybe use some other method of keeping track of your goals and progress... use the food logs, and/or track your exercise regularly.
I need the feedback from the scale often, but not every day. When I weigh every day, I get too fixated on the little details, and then it seems all I think about is how every little thing could affect my numbers. Once a week accountability usually works for me. That is often enough that I'm not afraid to get on the scale, and I usually can't go too far wrong in that amount of time.
My weight is day by day becoming more dependant upon Whose I am than on my circumstances and feelings.
Life here is a one-time deal. I want to live it well.
It is up to you. Some people need to see the number on the scale pretty often to keep going. Other people don't.
I couldn't weigh daily as it really gets to my head to have too much focus on numbers but I can handle checking once a week. I feel that I would have to weigh in at least once per month to get some feedback.

So I have been on this weight loss roller coaster for a while I would do good for a while then I lose motivation. So since I have rejoined Sparkpeople I have lost 3 pounds which is good since I have been doing this not a full 4 weeks yet. I have been staying focus on tracking and working out. I got on the scale this morning and it didn't move. This week I stay with in food range and I did different workout routines and a couple of days add more time to my work outs. So I don't want to lose focus and motivation because the scale didn't move. Besides I want and need to lose some weight I want to live a healthier lifestyle. So if I continue to work out and stay with in calorie range is weighing yourself weekly really necessary to manage weight loss?
