I generally loos about 2 pounds per week. It's 14 days until July 4th. Go for 4 pounds -- it's a more realistic, attainable, and sustainable goal.

Why does it have to be off by July 4th? Don't rush it and semi starve just for some event, think lifetime, because you have to keep doing what you are doing forever, not just till you reach some goal. Be happy that you are doing ok.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

I just lost 7# in 3 days - from stress & worry. Wouldn't recommend it though.

Thanks everyone. This is my first time goal and I'm in no way going to put my body in danger to lose that weight. But, I was thinking about just changing up my physical activity a bit. If it doesn't happen, then I'll just let my body do the talking. I don't want to fail at this. I have never weighed this low before and I'm not about to screw it up.

Can a person lose 6 pounds in two weeks ? I've lost 3-4 pounds in a day because of a shift in my water weight. So, yes, you could lose 6 pounds in two weeks if you manipulated your water intake.

In order to truly lose 6 pounds of fat in the next two weeks would require you to create a caloric deficit of 21,000 calories. one pound of fat = 3500 calories. That's why SP (and many other weight loss websites) suggests that if you eat 500 calories less each day, in seven days, that would give you a deficit of 3500 calories or one pound for the week.

That's just one pound. Now, you want to lose six pounds of fat. In theory, that would mean cutting your caloric intake to below 1,000 calories per day OR exercising and burning at least 1,000 calories every day for the next two weeks.

So, in theory, if you were to workout for 2-3 hours a day combined with a caloric intake of less than 1000 per day, you could lose six pounds of fat in two weeks. BUT, would really want to do that to your body ?

I understand how you're feeling. We all have been in your shoes. We want to lose the weight fast. But the fact is, you didn't gain the weight overnight, it's not coming off overnight. Here's something I've learned from my own years of yo yo dieting, the faster a person takes the weight off. the faster it packs back on. Take the weight off slowly and it will stay off.

Yes, it is theoretically possible to lose 6 pounds in the next two weeks if you either manipulate your water intake or exercise excessively and starve yourself.

Let your body lose weight when it wants to lose. Don't put your body on a schedule because I can assure you, your body has other plans.

I've done it - so can you. Most people poo-poo fast weight lost, but I find I need it to keep going "in the zone". Otherwise I procrastinate and continue to eat whatever I want. I do it by eliminating sugars - all kinds, including the hidden sugars. My body thanks me for it.

Good Luck. The second trick is to not put it back on. I do agree that continued yo-yo dieting wrecks your metabolism.

Would I be pushing it if I tried to lose nearly 6 pounds by July 4th? I wouldn't be upset if I didn't as long as I go the right direction. But, I was hoping this goal would give me a boost in motivation. emoticon

What are your thoughts?
