I happen to like my Fitbit and find it very motivating to keeping me going and on track. I don't have a HRM and don't think I need it.

If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.

I bought a FitBit a few weeks ago and honestly I think it's a waste of money.

Yes, it does exactly what it says it will do. It counts your steps, estimates how many calories you have burned and tracks your active minutes. Some versions will do more and I'm sure that they will all work perfectly fine.

So why am I dissatisfied? It does not accurately track all of my exercise. If I'm bike riding or on my rower or ski machine or elliptical I might as well be sitting still as far as the FitBit is concerned.

For me, it's not a good motivator. There is no "get off your butt" and move signal to say I've been sitting too long. It doesn't set off fireworks if I make 10K steps. It just doesn't do it for me.

I wish I had bought one of the wrist monitors at Wally World that track your heart rate and estimate calories burned from that as well as the pedometer function etc. One version monitors 8 functions for 30$ and the other 12 functions for 40$. It also functions as a watch, a timer, an alarm etc. Still no fireworks but I think it would be more accurate for me as I do more than walk.

Hey everyone!

I'm looking to buy a Fitbit. {after all the research, it seems fitbit is the best overall it is just missing a heartrate monitor}

Has anyone bought a separate HRM to use with the Fitbit or do you track everything separately?
