I just started Grimm, which is pretty easy to get into. It's on Amazon Prime right now. I'm going to check out Orange is the new Black as soon as I'm done with Grimm.

I love Covert Affairs, which the new season starts this week or next. I'll have to stream on USA since I turned off the Satellite for the summer.

I tried Downton Abbey, but couldn't get into it. Maybe I'll have to stick to reading historical romances. If your into Downton Abbey, it is on Amazon Prime right now as well. I also couldn't stay interested in the US version of Sherlock.

If you want to get old school, you should get Six Feet Under. Has the same actor as from Dexter(another good one!) .

Or you can try Big Love, totally controversial to others, I though it was awesome!

Definitely Orange is the New Black. As someone said, you won't want kids in the house while it's on, but it's so well written and well done. It's built to an entourage cast, where you find yourself caring about all these women and their stories. Season two is less Piper as the main character, and more focusing on everyone. I'm on the sixth episode of season two and I wish I could binge watch it, but my husband's working and I promised to only watch with him.

There's the relationships between the women and guards in the prison mixed with the backstories of the inmates. My favorite character got killed off in season one, but other than that, I couldn't recommend it more highly.

The British "House of Cards" is also on Netflix. Really good stuff, IMO.

PBS is going to be re-showing the original British version of a House of Cards. It's three seasons and absolutely brilliant. Check your local PBS listings. If not, Netflix and amazon should have it. If you have cable, BBC America may show it.

And speaking of hip British shows, how about the Avengers ? That was a favorite of mine when I was a kid.

This is funny. I had a doctor's appointment yesterday and we were talking about series on TV. We both agreed that Breaking Bad, Orange is the new Black, House of Cards, and Game of Thrones are all the best and we are both hooked on them. I did not realize that House of Cards with Spacey is copied from a British version. Can anyone tell me where you watched that? Is it Netflix also?

I will second the recommendation of Sherlock and will add Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren. She was amazing !

How about a little romance ? Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth is the romance of all romances. Oh, Mr Darcy.

The British "House of Cards" is more fantastic than the American version (which copied the British one). Also, if you're into scifi, all of the Star Trek TV episodes (all shows, all seasons) are on Amazon Prime. I'm re-watching DS9 this summer. :D

I recommend:
The HBO Series, The Tudors. We really enjoyed this series. It's for mature audiences, though, just FYI.

Game of Thrones, which is also for mature audiences. It's still playing.

"Warehouse 13" just ended. We enjoyed the series.

Merlin is so much fun. We were pretty sad when they ended this series. It's for all ages. I checked and they have all 5 seasons on Amazon.

The Borgias. Showtime kind of ended it abruptly because it got too expensive to make, but we really enjoyed it while it lasted.

Rome--it was on HBO, I think.

The Closer

If you like series that are still playing: Grimm, Supernatural, Vikings (for mature audiences), and Bates Motel.

Edited to add:
Downton Abbey! I don't know how I possibly forgot to put this on the list! Love it!

Dexter (mature audiences).

If you like zombies a lot, The Walking Dead (definitely for mature audiences). I'm not sure how I feel about this series, but my husband likes it. I can only take so many episodes and then I need a break for a while. I think I enjoy it in small doses. Words that I would personally use to describe the series are "gross" and "disturbing."

You know, the Swedish version of the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a three part mini series. that might be something you'd both like if you want a drama/mystery.

If he enjoys Jeremy Piven, he might like his new BBC/PBS show called Mr Selfridge. The second season just finished airing.

Does he like British TV ? Downton Abbey is HUGE. Lots of Spark Peeps (including me) are avid fans. That just finished its fourth season.

How about westerns ? I love Deadwood. that was a fantastic series. ditto, brutal and lots of foul language. So much that it might have even shocked George Carlin. LOL.

Why did he shoot down Breaking Bad?

Anyway - one of the best resources on the internet is IMDB www.imdb.com/ . You can see the stars each movie, show, etc. receives, but the comments are invaluable - and way more accurate than reviewers comments on Netflix. lol, sometimes I think the majority of Netflix reviewers are 21 year old males...

Anyway - I did Lost, believe it or not, not too long ago, and loved it- yes I know I am late to the party on that one.

The second season of Orange is the black just dropped on Netflix - it's pretty good, too.

House of Cards is brilliant.

American Horror story was fantastic.

I've Dexter in my queue - you might want to IMDB that one, though (see what hubs says).....

Game of Thrones can be brutal, and they do not skimp on the sex scenes or nudity.

Do you enjoy foreign language drama? I'm in the middle of the Swedish version of Wallander, and I've got a detective drama from Belgium called Salamander in my queue. Also BBC version (english) of Wallander is there; but different mysteries, and stars Kenneth Branaugh.

Also, the french version of The Returned was very good and creepy - not to be confused with a U.S. version...

ETA: I forgot The walking dead! It's my favourite show on TV - and I think the best....but it's Zombies (survivors of a zombie apocalypse) , and not shy on zombie violence.....

I liked Ghost Whisperer, Eureka, and Warehouse 13.

I was watching Once upon a time, but I have to wait for the new season. I also watch Game of thrones, but this Sunday is the season finale for that one , so I need to find a new series also. I watched breaking bad for a while, but I got tired of it. I might try orange is the new black.

Game of Thrones.

I've read the first two books and getting ready to read the third. The series is excellent. BUT... it's also very violent as well as sexually explicit. It's definitely for mature audiences.

If your hubby nixed Breaking Bad, there is a remote chance he could nix Game of Thrones if he doesn't like violence or graphic scenes.

My hubby and I are blowing through Entourage and have watched the first 4 seasons in the last 2 weeks. At this rate, we'll probably be done in the next week or two. Any recommendations for what we should watch next? We have Netflix and Amazon Prime, but aren't opposed to buying something if it's awesome. I suggested Breaking Bad but he shot that one down. Thanks!
