there is a trick to searching the database. the first step is to click on more under the search bar and make sure you are not using "search foods shared by other members." searching "all words" and "don't show fast food" also can help. the other thing to remember is that you have to know the recipe for what you are using. basically a generic omelet includes whole eggs and average toppings. just like scrambled eggs aren't scrambled because of an action, they are egg plus butter/oil plus milk. if you take an egg, whip it with a fork and cook it on a nonstick pan, you didn't make scrambled eggs the tracker has the calorie count for. you would be better off using a plain egg, because that is what you ate even if you action scrambled it. the action of scrambling does not a scrambled egg make. just like an omelet. if you were eating an omelet from a diner, using a generic entry would be a good choice. but since you're not, the best way to enter your omelet would be searching egg whites [if you haven't already entered the info from the carton] and the first entry should be a plain spark entry and you could enter two as the amount. then search peppers, pick the kind of pepper you used and enter 2 T as the unit of measure. then search onions, pick the first generic entry that matched the kind of onion you used and enter in 2 T as the measurement. then search tomatoes, pick the one you used and enter in the 2 T. the more you can break down what you actually ate, the more accurate your tracker will be. also, the more you break it down the more likely that what you actually used will be the first thing to pop up. keep in mind that if tomato doesn't show you tomato on the first try, then try tomatoes. the tracker is a little weird with singular and plural sometimes, but if the basic thing you're searching doesn't show up in the first page, then you didn't use the right term. i'm also a big fan of nutritiondata.self.com because they use the same usda info as spark, but they really spell out exactly what is and isn't included in things.
Right below the box where you select the serving size is a button that says "view nutritional info". You can get a preview there before adding it to your tracker. In the box that pops up, at the top right is a button to verify whether or not the nutritional info is correct. If it's not, click "no", and we get reports on that info so we can correct entries that are inaccurate.

Does anyone know a way to remove or flag inaccurate food item entries for removal?
This morning, I was searching for a way to enter an egg white omelette using two egg whites and about 2 tablespoons each of peppers, onions and tomatoes. Upon entering "omelette" into the search window, I was bombarded with inaccurate options.
One such example listed: 235 calories, 0g carbohydrates, 13g fats, 0g protein
I'd like to know if there's a tool to remove or block entries like this from appearing in my selection menu when I'm searching for accurate nutritional information. Or at the very least, is there a way to preview the calorie and macro-nutrient totals in each item without adding it to my tracker? This would eliminate the step of requiring multiple web page updates (one to add and one to remove).
