Monday through Friday (my work week) I pretty much eat the same breakfast, lunch, and snacks. I prepare all of my food the week before and have found foods I absolutely love that are easy to prep, pack, transport, store, and eat while at work. I generally change up my dinner from week to week but my largest meals are breakfast and lunch. Dinner is very light. On the weekends I relax my habits a bit and usually go out once or twice with my husband. This works for me. I hope this helps you!

Small changes over time equal big results!

I generally plan meals as I shop depending on sales and what is available. I am not good about eating the same thing day after day, so when I make meals I always cut back so there are only two servings or less, I am not fond of leftovers except soups and stews that heat up well. I noticed a lot of people eat the same breakfast, I get bored eating the same thing more then once every couple of weeks, so I change around a lot. On nights I work my breakfast is supper to me so that makes a difference, I don't eat traditional breakfast type meals very often. I like to try different foods often and new recipes, and I love to cook even though time is short frequently. I do make freezer meals often, and package them in one person servings.

I personally need a general routine when I am first starting out especially when I find something I love. Keep it simple. I plan on the same basic "meals" with maybe some different ingredients when I do get bored & irritable.

Breakfast - Fruit Bowl (lots of options for variety but I tend to stick to melon & berries because that is what I like best)

Lunch - Veggie Salad (again lots of options for variety. I don't use dressing instead I use either salsa or a tiny bit of sandwich spread to give it extra flavor, sometimes meat, beans or nuts)
This might occassionally change to Veggie Soup

Supper - Lots of steamed or grilled veggies, rotate the protein, maybe a baked potato
I discovered grilled corn on the cob and could easily have that every night

Snacks - WATERMELON, yellow grape tomatoes, apples, peaches, nectarines, cucumber slices - most are easy to eat "finger foods"

When working its not uncommon for me to have the same thing for breakfast each day5 days a week, and within variation the same thing for lunch as well - mostly because I need to keep a handle on my glucose so having X and Y foods I know how my body will respond during the course of the day at work.

Breakfast is…
Quinoa (cold or hot with soy milk) with coffee
or
Vega Nutrishional Shake made with soy milk and fresh berries or fruit

Lucnh is…
Tofu and rice with Hummus and Veggies and my soda stream

Dinner is the wild card, as its always different (though rice or quinoa is common to be part of it)

Yes. I have the same thing almost everyday. Lunch is fish, usually salmon, but I mix up the side dish, sometimes fruit and sometimes sweet potato. Supper is usually a Chinese chicken bowl, but I also mix it up with pizza bread, steak tacos and turkey/bacon/avocado sandwiches.

I am a serious creature of habit. Very seldom do i change my breakfast choices. I love oatmeal with brown sugar and raisins. My other choice is some type of fruit and peanut butter toast. Coffee is NOT an option however!
Looking forward to getting as far as some of you have!

While this might work for someone, I know it wouldn't work for me. Eating the same thing every day would leave me bored and frustrated. I wouldn't stick with it.

I think it's interesting because I've heard from new SP members who are resistant to track their foods "I don't have an hour each day to track my food", etc. - when in reality, a lot of people tend to eat the same foods over and over and over again.

The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.

I cook a lot over the weekend for the week ahead. I do this because I work a lot of hours and after a stressful day its a lot less tempting to stop for fast food if I know I have a good meal waiting for me at home & I'm cheap and there's no way I'm throwing out food I already paid for and spent time preparing.

I do mix it up though I make different things each week for breakfast and lunch so I'm only eating it for a week. I also make a couple of different things for dinner and then make different vegetables and/or salads to go along with dinner so there is a variety.

I do eat the same thing for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its easier to keep your calories under control and since I am diabetic it helps with regulating how much insulin to take. Nothing worse than over dosing on your insulin. emoticon All though I think I would enjoy life so much more if I mixed it up a bit. emoticon

It's interesting how many of us "eat the same thing" over and over.
I really doubt that anyone eats exactly the same thing everyday but I think we all have our easy, standard go to meals that we just don't have to think about. My breakfast is easy and boring. I take it with me when I travel and I have it even if we go out to breakfast.

I think the two hardest things are when you have to cook to make others happy so end up fixing things you won't eat AND cooking for one when most recipes make enough to serve at least 4 people.

I eat dinner alone 4 nights a week so I eat leftovers some nights and take leftovers for lunch.

This theory is a lot easier to follow if you live alone. But it does make a difference, you don't have to eat exactly the same thing, but the same general protein, veggie and fruit choices. So you don't have to think about cassaroles and desserts, and I gave up salads due to boredom and stick with vegetables that I steam ahead of time and just reheat. It isn't fun to eat carefully, that's why so many have to give in at some point.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

No I have to switch it up. The problem with loving to cook is that you have to tone down on how much you cook so I do have to eat the same thing a few times but I freeze them and mix them up that way. I need the variety or I will get bored and eat something that I really should be eating.

yep - through the week I eat the same breakfast and lunch; dinner - I cook one big thing on Sunday and snack on it all week. Makes my life easier since I don't have to stress about "what am I going to eat" and makes packing lunch each day something I can do on autopilot

No, the body has memory. You have to mix it up a bit to keep your body guessing. Variety is best (for me anyway).

I don't eat the same number of calories every day, either, for the same reasons.

I enjoy oatmeal every morning, lunch is always a Lean Cuisine meal and I make something different every day for my DH and I at supper.

Breakfast and lunch come from a list I like. Dinner comes from a pool of meals my wife likes, not that I EVER eat something I don't like...

I eat several different meals for the same day part. If I ate exactly the same daily, I'd be bored and probably wouldn't bet getting the right variety of nutrients.

I have the same breakfast and lunch typically everyday. I switch up dinner but stick with 3 or 4 rotating choices. I live alone and eat simple, some might call it boring.

I don't eat the same thing every week, but I tend to have the same thing, more or less, several days in a row for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I do rotate snacks/sides to be different things. I do it mostly because I cook largely for myself during the week (though my guy usually comes over two nights - we'll usually eat what I've cooked for the week one night and something else that I throw together the other and then weekends are different). I make things that I like and don't mind eating multiple days, I have enough variety to mix it up with sides and snacks. No two days are exactly alike.

As far as nutrients go, I do take a multivitamin on advice of my doctors, but am only vitamin D deficient (and I've had two vitamin panels done). To each, their own, but I've been doing this for several years, and it is what works for me now. If (it's more like when), my guy and I move in together, I'll probably make a couple of more meals per week, and rotate more.

I eat the same breakfast every day.

My lunches and dinners tend to be the same 5 or 6 meals over and over again, but changing slightly as different fruits and veggies come into season.

My snacks don't change much either. There are 4 or 5 that I like, and I rotate them through the week.

There is not a thing on my regular menu that I dislike or eat out of a sense of obligation. I look forward to each and every thing, and repeating meals this often makes shopping and preparation easy. But this approach would probably bore a lot of people.

I couldn't do that.

However, I do keep my lunches about the same (same 3 per week), and my snacks are about the same (about same 4 per week)...dinners are my wildcard.

Doing it that way helps in tracking because I know off the top of my head that X for lunch has so many cals, and Y for snack has so many cals.

I just couldn't eat the exact same meals every. single. day. emoticon

I have the same thing for breakfast every morning. For lunch I will have the same thing for a week at a time. For dinner it is whatever the cook of the day plans. We rotate this responsibility among six of us.

I cycle my dinner meals, as it depends on the day and what kind of time I have. But lunch I pack everyday, and I make a big batch of tuna at the beginning of the week and usually just throw that in a wrap with lettuce and it is more than satisfying. I also love to roast up eggplant and put that in a wrap with spinach, goat cheese, and a few sprays of balsamic. Lunch has never been my 'favorite' meal of the day, so it's more so just something simple to make and pack, and will tide me over til snack or dinner!

I'll often have the same lunch and breakfast based on items I have on hand. I'll just eat the same until they are gone. When I am on a strict low calorie DIET - the only successful way I can actually lose weight (contrary to popular belief) I will strictly eat the same food 3 times a day - no deviation.

I often eat the same breakfast and lunch, but it is because I really enjoy them and they are quick to fix. I do vary the type of fruit, lean protein and veggies to some extent and eat something completely different several times a week. At least for lunch.

It is important not to become bored when you are changing your lifestyle and eating the same meals day in, day out can be boring. Your body also needs a variety of nutrients and eating the same foods day after day can mean you aren't getting some of the trace elements or phytonutrients that are essential for good health.

You said you were working on lifestyle change. Do you want your lifestyle to forever be the same breakfast, lunch and supper every day? Probably not so don't restrict yourself to that while you are working on weight loss.

I was going to make exactly the same points as Nirerin, especially about nutrition. If you ate the same exact thing every day, it would have to be *perfect* in terms of vitamins, minerals, metals, and all sorts of itty bitty nutrients that we never think about and might not even know about. You don't need to get exactly 100% of the suggested value for every single nutrient every single day, but you do need to get each of them at least part of the time.

There are also things that are healthy but that you shouldn't eat every day. Fish is an example-- it has certain healthy oils and amino acids that are hard to get anywhere else, but it also has tiny traces of mercury and other heavy metals that accumulate if you eat too much. Most experts say you should eat fish, but not more than two or three times a week. Eggs are another example. They have things like choline that have an important function in nervous system healthy, but they're also high in saturated fat and cholesterol. We *need* saturated fat and cholesterol in our diets, but not as much as we'd get if we ate an omelet every day.

That doesn't mean you can't figure out ways to minimize planning. Look at the meals you've tracked recently, or the ones in the nutrition tracker here, or meal plans from other diets, and pick a handful to try. When you've found seven or fourteen or thirty days of plans that you like, assign each of them a day on the calendar. If you can say, "It's Thursday so I'm eating tuna Nicoise for lunch and vegetarian chili for dinner," or "Today's the 2nd so it's spaghetti night," that's almost as easy as the same thing every day-- but it's not the same thing every day!

Not the exact same meals every single day, but outside of work (where lunch is provided), I have about 5 different meals that I eat on various days of the week. If I get bored, I add or substitute one or two things. But I'm a boring person, so my boring, repetitive meals work pretty well for me. emoticon

I eat about the same thing every day and keep it about 1200. I live on the Navajo Rez and there is no place to buy anything, going to town is 2 hours one way. So I stock up on basic and end up with the same stuff. When I get tried of it I change the favor around a little but basically it's the same. It was that way when I did not diet also so it doesn't make much difference. You just have to do things you like. Let's face it I could eat choc every day. Then I could also eat fish every day just changing it a little. I don't eat now any sugars or white foods now. So mostly veg, fruit and a serving of protein of some sort. Mostly the same ones. The thing it's easy and in 5 weeks I have lost 20 lbs. got a long way to go but it's the easiest diet I have done. Once I took all sugar and white out of my diet.

I usually have the same breakfast. I like having something that is easy and healthy. Most days of the week I have oatmeal for breakfast. To switch it up I use different frozen berries or diced banana in it. for me the simplicity makes it quick. I'm also full. On days when i want something else, I mix 1/2 c oatmeal with an egg and make a pancake out of it. I use pb and light syrup as a topping.

I also have the same snacks - am - fruit and string cheese, pm hard boiled egg -if I'm feeling hungry I'll have another fruit.

Lunch is salad and a protein or salad and lentils.

Dinner is up for grabs.

I would think your body and taste buds would get bored with the same foods every day and start to crave other foods. Doesn't seem like a wise idea.

If you focus on results, you will never change. If you focus on change, you will get results.

If that will work for you, go for it!

It would not work for me though.
There are too many foods that I actually LOVE, and to never have them again would be silly to me.
Plus I like to cook based on what is on sale and what is in season.

You definitely make some good points. I don't think I would limit it quite that severely and you have to leave options open.

You're giving me some thinking to do. Thanks so much!

there are three issues with doing this.
the first is boredom. how many times can you really eat the same thing over and over again? many people find that they can't hold out longer than a few weeks. if you want to work around this, build up your repeats so that it's not just having the same thing, it's picking from one of five or ten or twenty things. frequent staples are fine. the exact same thing all the time tends to get old for most people.
problem number two is what happens if you don't have access to your same meal. in other words, you find yourself at a restaurant with family or someone else's house where they don't have a half cup of your brand of yogurt, a hard boiled egg and half cup of blackberries. and what seems to happen with a lot of people is that they end up eating two grand slams at denny's or a half a loaf of aunt susie's french toast because they either have no idea what's in other foods or no desire to control anything since they can't have their perfect breakfast.
the third issue is the balance of nutrients. eating a variety of different foods is a great way to get everything that your body needs. and i'm not saying that you wouldn't check to make sure you were as balanced as possible in the first place, but if you're lacking in anything, eating the same things all the time is just going to exacerbate the problem. the less overall variety, the more exact those same meals will need to be to meet your needs.

-google first. ask questions later.

I eat the same breakfast every day. It's fast, easy, portable and I can make it ahead of time. I'm not a big breakfast person so this works for me.

I have the same snacks and a variation of the same foods everyday for lunch.

So my day looks like this:
Protein shake with fiber bar
Snacks:
Non fat yogurt (Yoplait)
2 apples
1 cup pineapple
raw carrots with 2 T hummus
Lunch:
3 oz lean protein with veggies either cauliflower, broccoli, green beans, asparagus etc

After my workout I have 1 slice whole grain bread with 2 T peanut butter

Dinner varies depending on who else I'm fixing dinner for or if it's just me.
I also have a cookie or a couple of pieces of chocolate every day.

This works for me, I know a lot people would find it boring.

Hi, just wondered if anyone plans on the same breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. I've heard that it's a good way to be successful on your way to a new lifestyle. Very little planning would be necessary because you would be eating the same foods every day.

It would be a simple thing for me to do as I don't have to cook for other people.

Might sound crazy but I wanted to see what the general thoughts are on this idea. Thanks everyone!
