Twice in my life I experienced significant hair loss, once due to extreme stress when my husband died suddenly and when my thyroid stopped working. I am lucky because I have lots of hair but it was shocking to find handfuls of hair clogging my drain every time I showered and there were areas where the thinning became noticeable. Do get it checked out, hormones, stress and diet all can play a role.

Nutrition and stress and big factors. I have had issues with thinning hair due to stress since my Mom passed.
How quickly did you reach your goal? Losing weight very quickly does put a stress on your body. One of the winners of the Biggest Loser came into the salon that I go to. Due to losing a large amount of weight in a short period of time her hair began to fall out. She was having extensions put in so that it did not look so bad.
I would see your doctor as soon as possible. If it is not a thyroid problem, see a dermatologist.

Some times, when women cut their fat intake far too low, that can cause their hair to become weak and brittle. There are many healthy fats a person should eat, but won't because things like olive oil or peanuts are too high in calorie. Our bodies do need a certain amount of dietary fat to be healthy. And if a person cuts their fat too low, that can effect our hair, our skin and our nails.
Also, excess stress can cause a person's hair to fall out. have you been under any unusual stress as you lost weight ? Were you having any issues at home, school, work or relationship ? Stress and anxiety can reek havoc on a person's body. So, if you have been under a lot of stress, that too would cause hair loss.
What to do ? I agree. if you are continuing to see hair loss (if your weight has been stable), you should make an appointment with your doctor. Get all the blood work done to see if you may be deficient in any vital nutrient or mineral.
I agree this is a good thing to discuss with your doctor, and that it could be a sign you're deficient in some key nutrients. Are you getting enough healthy fat in your diet? Stress can also be a contributor.

Bald spots aren't just a guy thing, women can get them too as hormone levels change throughout your life - especially when thinning hair runs in the family. Definitely discuss this with your doc though. Thinning hair can also be a sign of nutrient deficiencies and/or thyroid problems so you might want to bring up those possibilities when you see him/her.

Last September (2013) I reached my 75 lb weight loss goal. Throughout last Summer I noticed I was losing a LOT more hair than normal. My hair had thinned down so much. But I had never expected to see what I found last week. I actually have a bald spot! I'm 31 years old and, even though thinning hair is a family trait, I never expected BALDING!
Anyway, I haven't discussed this with a doctor yet. I will. But I was wondering if any of you have experienced hair loss with your weight loss?? My fiance thinks this is due to stress. I think it started with my weight loss and my stress has just made it worse.
