I use minimal over the counter drugs and never NSAIDS.

Food is a source of a wide variety of anti inflammatory substances, so I stick with that.

Moving in new directions.

I'm not familiar with that, but for a topical anti-inflammatory I use arnica extract. This helps with joint, tendon or muscle injury/overuse for me.

For a general preventative sort of thing I include a tablespoon or so of fresh ginger into the vegetable juice I make every day. That has really helped my joint pain.

What sort of inflammation are you dealing with ? What about an over the counter anti inflammatory like Motrin ? Or are you trying to go with something natural ? If so, you might consider taking a closer look at the foods you eat. Many nutritionists recommend changing a person's diet to eliminate foods that cause inflammation as well as to eat the right foods that reduce it.

Example, many experts suggest increasing a person's intake of dark leafy greens like collards, kale, spinach, swiss chard, etc... An increase in dark leafy greens could help reduce whatever inflammation you are experiencing.

Unless it's an injury. Are you recovering from an injury ?
