I'm starting over, resetting or whatever today! I'm motivated by a couple of gals at work. We've got each other for support and encouragement. Last year I lost 40 lbs. I've just got 30 more to go!

I see every morning as a fresh start. Every morning, when I weigh in, I make a silent promise to myself as I step on the scale. I promise myself that I'll do the best I can, that I'll remember my commitment to my goals, and that I'll make choices consistent with these goals to the best of my ability. No matter what the number on the scale says, I make that promise.

Fresh starts are a good thing. The past is over, but we can take control of the now. We can make the now a positive place, and that positivity can help us remain committed to a better life. Every time we make a choice to replace a bad habit with a good one, we make a fresh start.

Tina, I'm really excited for you that you're starting over. You've chosen to create a better path for yourself, and that is a wonderful thing! Be proud of that!

Thank you for your response to my posting of starting over again yesterday. My boyfriends food menu is the following (and nothing else): chicken breast, beef, spaghetti, coleslaw (but no cabbage) corn, green beans, salad (made w/iceberg lettuce shave carrots and no other veggies), baked beans, carrots, potatoes, mac n cheese. It all ends here. Cooking for him is easy, he doesn't like any spices. Me on the other hand...I am a apprentice chef, I love just about any food. I love to eat, But I also love to exercise. They go hand in hand for me. I adore cooking. I love trying new things (and that's not always a good thing for me :).
It's difficult getting him on board with me. But its funny...we met at the YMCA, We used to go on a 5 mile walk almost every day. Then go back to the Y and continue working out. A couple of years later, we both started slacking off and boom....the weight back on. I'm miserable like this. Weight has been an issue all my life. And he looks like he's about to give birth!! But I know its about me. But it would be so nice to have him on this journey with me.

I was away from home Friday-Monday until noon visiting my daughter. I took my protein drink mix and almond milk and some veggies and fruits but my routine was just different. I did not exercise except for some walking on Sat. I gained 1.4 pounds and promised myself I would get back on track today. Well today wasn't perfect but I am confident tomorrow will be totally in range on eating and exercise. emoticon WE WILL SUCEED !

I also know how it is. I relocated and it was lots of stress, it catapulted me back; now I have more weight than at the beginning, when I started with sparkpeople.

I started over today. Seriously.. With a gym contract. Now at least I need to go there at least 4 times a week.. It was a good decision, I feel good. Motivated through PENNYSAVER2, I am glad I actually went there and did something.

I totally know how you feel. I got off track last year after my mom passed away, and it's been slow getting my drive back. :/ Here's to success! emoticon

Just one more thing. Are there certain veggies he does like( besides Corn, peas, and Potatoes of course) Also if you don't already try different seasonings with them. Now that the warm weather is coming you might be able to grill some of them too.

I am a Diabetic also, and finally found the right combo of meds and eating that is working for me. My husband isn't a Diabetic but he tries to watch what he eats, since he wants to keep his weight, Blood Pressure and Cholseterol down. (The new guidelines for Cholesterol is that for anyone who has a level of 70 or above can benefit from a Statin. Heres the kicker though, I seriously doubt that anyone can get to or maintain a 70 on their own. Personally I think the AMA and the Pharmaceutical companies are in bed together on this one. I tend to have a fatty liver, and what happens, I go on a Statin, then have my Liver checked, it shows up fatty and I end up going to a Gastro whoi tyells me nothing is wrong with it. It's a vicious cycle that I told my Doctor I refuse to ride on. My Gastro tells me to discuss it with my Promary, and my Primary tells me to check it out with my Gastro. IU'll just do the best that I can until they BOTH get with the program and on the same page.

Started back again on Monday. Just needed a break, I continued to try and watch myself even though I wasn't here. I am finally at the point where my weight and my sugars are coming down. I haven't been exercising due to a shoulder injury( tendonitis and a small tear that my Ortho is hoping will heal on it's own. That means currently no Golf for me,( sitting out another season, I am going to be SO rusty. Good excuse to take lessons next spring (and kick the hubs butt. lol-yeah right)

Anyway feels good to be back, and I didn't gain while I was gone, I actually lost a couple more pounds, so goody for me.

You may even find, once you get back into the swing, to find a better boyfriend!! :). Just a thought, a lot of folks have trouble with "boyfriends" or others that keep on bringing stuff into the house that isn't healthy, and just don't care. My husband is diabetic, so he eats the vegetables I fix, but dislikes them, but also knows he has to eat them, lol.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

My husband hasn't helped keep junk food out of the house, so I know where you are coming from. In a couple weeks, I plan to buy the DDP Yoga set, because of how many people see results. From what I heard it helps a lot of people with injuries as well. No impact yoga sounds good to me!

Good luck!

I felt the same way, especially since eating better is what started my weight loss and then the exercise came later. But I've gotten to the point where the two balance eat other and when one is out of whack, I tend to let the other slide too. I need to watch myself and not let that happen.

I just kicked my excuses to the curb and started tracking again yesterday. Today is my first day focusing on increasing activity too. I'm starting simple: stay within my calorie goal and move every day.

Hi, Tina !

Welcome back to Spark People !

I give all new members one piece of advice and it's this,"Don't look at good health or weight loss with an all or nothing mentality". If the only healthy thing you did for yourself today was drink 8 glasses of water, that's still a step in the right direction.

Remember, you're trying to change habits learned over a life time. That's not going to happen overnight, a week, a month or even a year. Change takes time, thus the need to be patient with yourself and your body.

If you need support, feel free to leave a post, the spark community will support you when you need it.

Thank you for your support. Whats so sad is I could have continued the food end. But I gave up cause I couldn't exercise like I'm use to doing. Excuses excuses. Today is brighter day.

I was doing soooo well until I broke my foot last November. But once that happened and I couldn't move for a while, I faded off the plan. I'm not getting much encouragement from the boyfriend either. He's great at sabotaging. We eat soooo differently. But I'm gonna find that drive that I had last year and give it another go!!! All Aboard!!!
