I do feel and dress more youthful as a result of being thin. I was my heaviest ever at age 29 after having my third child. (Over 200 at about 5' 3"). I do think I felt kind of "old" at the time. Now I am 55, 80 lbs lighter, and wear junior sized clothes. Sometimes I actually want more "mature" looking clothes but I can't find any that fit, that are not baggy and matronly or "grandma-looking" clothes. I love being a grandma but I don't want my clothes to advertise that I am one.
I have always looked about 10 years younger than my age, so people assume that I am much younger than I am. As I have started to lose weight, I think I actually gotten older looking; no more baby fat face, instead I have cheekbones--and wrinkles.
I have always worn cute clothes, and have never really tried to hide behind my weight, so while the cute clothes are easier to find in a size 18 than they were in a 24, I am not dressing particularly differently than I did a year ago, and I cannot see myself suddenly reaching for mini skirts and crop tops when I have lost all of the weight that I want to lose. I didn't dress like that when I was in my 20s and a size 10, why would I start now?
The only things about me that are old are my knees, and because I did bad things to them when I was young, even if I lose all of the weight I want to lose, they will never be young again.

Job, fitness dude! I'm working on the weight loss and do feel better about how I look and what I can wear. I too want to start more fitness to change even more. I want to be able to say I'm in the best shape of my life at my age.

Oh gosh, does this really resonate with me. YES I felt old. Or at least, I blamed the way I was feeling on "aging." Things like - dealing with acid reflux. Well, ya know, as you get older, you can't handle the spicy foods, right? Creaky knees that hurt when you try to climb stairs? Well, the ole joints do get to wearing out as you age, right? Nothing to do with being 100# overweight.... Can't bend over to tie shoe? Yeah, you get less flexible as you age. Can't get gracefully down to floor-level? Yeah, the older you get the harder you fall - pays to be careful, right! Can't get back UP off the floor without help and a big groan? AGE. Can't navigate stairs without clutching the hand railing for dear life? AGE. Need CPAP mask at night? AGE. Don't feel like doing all the outdoor-things/active-things I used to do? (camping, hiking)? Slowing down, it's AGE.
HAHAHAHAHAHA WAS I EVER WRONG.
All those things I blamed on age - every. last. one of them. Has rectified with weight loss. I am reborn, and doing all the things I used to love doing that I thought were gradually leaving my life "as I aged." Hurrah!

No, but each time I've lost a lot of weight, I still wanted to wear dark colors, hate light, cutesy colored clothing..........even years ago as a teenager. It's not always the way you think it will be, though. Thin or overweight, your mental state can still stay the same.
Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

Never felt old in my 40's, I was a National Champion competitive Skydiver then and a long distance Kayaker. I am about 25-30 lbs overweight now but I feel like I still dress, look and act younger. At 59, the little aches and pains make me feel old though. I do think weight lifting is one of the keys to looking and feeling your best. I have been lax on that but it's on my list.
Nope. I felt a lot of things, but 'old' was not one of them. To me that is a calendar thing and quantifiable.
But I AM old now!

When I was in my early 40's I was "old" and by that I mean I acted old, I dressed old and I felt old, that about 10 years ago. In the fall of 2006 I started what would be my most successful weight loss journey of my life and during that time I went from being "old" (as I described above) to being youthful. I consider July 1, 2007 as my RE-BIRTH Date because that's when I decided to completely shave my head and started to lift weights not just to be healthy but to gain muscle mass and get ripped. I was 45 at the time.
7 and half years later (52 next month) I am still enjoying the fruits of that initial journey though I always feel like I'm a work in progress because maintenance is just as tough, if not tougher, than the initial journey.
I look, feel & dress younger than my actual age.
