The sugars, additives & preservatives in prepared foods & snacks should be outlawed! We'd all feel a whole lot better without them.

Yes. High sugar snacks cause me to feel confused/ light-headed. Within the hour of having too much sugar I need to sleep or at least lay down. I take no med's & my last check-up [full blood work] was all good. I do not know why this happens - hormonal/ digestive changes, maybe?

I am reading a great and interesting book about how the food giants on purpose put the right salt sugar and fat in processed foods so that we become addicted and want more and more...it's like drugs. I am just into the book and already am appalled. I will boycott all packaged foods for sure...it is discussing what these companies are doing to Americans and especially children...shame on little debbie.

I assume you didn't feel good as your body was more used to healthy foods and nutrition and was looking for some value from the food you put in your mouth. So it sent you a signal by making you feel sick.

I am so very happy that I finally treated food like drugs and got off all the packaged stuff.

by the way the book is called
Salt Sugar Fat How the Food Giants Hooked Us. by Michael Moss.

Have a good day, eat healthy!

I blame the lack of meds, and you can also feel that way if you haven't been eating enough carbs, too, sometimes staying on "track" can make you feel as sick as eating some sugar doo dad. Only way to know for sure is to do that same thing, no meds, etc. another time and see if it does something to you. It isn't always the sugar, I just don't feel good when I don't get enough carbs in daily.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

yes....I cut way back on refined sugars and now when I eat something sugar sweet, my head pounds and then later I will feel sleepy...and I notice I will get hungry sooner than normal until it's out of my system.

if you had just one little debbie snack then i would say the ickiness should have passed by at most the 4 hour mark. as far as i know ld hasn't made any of the pound sized creations that candy bars have, so a little debbie snack is relatively small and should be pretty much through your digestive tract by then unless you ate it right after a huge meal. if the snack was the last thing you ate for the day, then i could maybe see still being a little off the next morning. but i am also not that sensitive to sugar. or rather i've learned the hard way when to stop so i tend to go a little more slowly. i would say if you're still icky this morning then it was something else making you icky in the first place and the debbie just exacerbated it.

i mean, i presume when you say you stood up and were dizzy, you sat back down and were relatively normal after a few minutes. if you've been particularly dizzy since yesterday you probably want to hit the emergency room or at the very least call your doc about now. and again, i am assuming feeling horrible is more like grumbling stomach and a slight off, not 100% feeling, not that you've been solidly in the bathroom since the debbie.

-google first. ask questions later.

You probably had too much sugar all at once. I hope you feel better soon!

It sounds more like the Little Debbie's junk food did you in. Too much sugar, too much fat, too many preservatives.

I find that when I have been eating good food, getting good nutrition then eat trash food I feel sick. I get bloated, feel nauseous and lethargic.

If you have diabetes and had been eating well then ate a bunch of sugar that would make you feel ill also.

Personally, if I'm going to feel ill because of something I ate it will be something a whole lot better then Little Debbies!

SHADELILY,

Are you diabetic ? the sugar spike and then crash could have caused those symptoms especially if you had been laying off refined sugar for 2-3 weeks.

Did you drink enough water during the day ? Was it warm outside ? When a person is a bit dehydrated, it can make a person feel dizzy and a bit disoriented too.

I haven't had much of a problem eating sugar. I know that if I eat a few too many onion rings or too much fried food, I will get an upset stomach really fast. My body lets me know it doesn't like this stuff anymore. Maybe you're body is telling you that the Little Debbies aren't welcome.

Yes, a high-sugar snack makes me feel awful, but paradoxically makes me want more. I try to keep my wits about me and avoid them. It's difficult when sugar is everywhere. My best strategy is remembering how lousy I felt the last time I had that big cupcake. Ugh...

Hello all!

So yesterday I couldn't recall if I had taken my morning meds. I dumped them out and counted and I was pretty sure I had. Now yesterday I stayed awesomely on track until my hubby got home, he had brought Little Debbies with him. I figured there was no issue with having one, especially since I've been well on track for a couple of weeks. When I stood up after eating them I was dizzy and again today I just feel horrible. Prior to yesterday I haven't had anything sweet or with high sugar, other than fruit, in over two weeks. Now I'm left wondering if I did forget my meds or if it's the sugar from the snack cakes. Has anyone else found that high sugar snacks make them feel ill since they started eating better?

Shadelily
