LOL, Isn't funny how the meaning of that sentence changed with one missed capital "F"? That's what happens when the cats proofread for me. They get a little snarky sometimes when I point out that they can't type as they don't have thumbs..

No frozen panties at slumber parties but I did hear about frozen jock straps at football camp.
Slumber parties were for eating, running around like insane banshees and making sure you did not fall asleep as someone had promised some trick.....

I don't remember any pranks at actual slumber parties I attended. Maybe we were too young- or too well supervised. We mostly ate and watched scary movies.
I'd heard of the warm water thing but not freezing underwear.

lol...I never did it, but back in the day...girls (now..I'm talking young girls...ages 10-13???), would dampen and freeze their underwear, and wear it....but I don't know if it was a dare thing (who can keep it on longest??).

My daughter turned out just fine, and I did not get her everything she wanted. She knew when I said NO, it was NO!!! She is now 26 years old, married, and very successful!!!

I had to say No to my daughter often. She now 36 and a beautiful adult who is self sufficient and very happy. The word No did not ruin her life, then or now.

lol...my son is 23.

I literally though this was a dress that was frozen (like..in a freezer). Young girls used to freeze their panties and wear them at slumber parties...back in the stone ages.

Geez I'm old.

I've never paid outrageous sums for something my child wanted.

When my dd has wanted something that was unavailable or too expensive I have often just made them myself and she was happy.

I'm not sure parents are giving their children enough credit when they shell out large sums of money to get a label. Kids just want a pretty dress or a neat toy.

We love Frozen and my daughter would love some Frozen dolls and dresses. But she can wait until her birthday in October. I just don't understand the insane panic over TOYS.

NOT BECAUSE YOU HATE IT.

I bought a Tickle Me Elmo for like.. $19.99 or whatever the shelf price was - BEFORE it exploded on the daytime-tv "must have toys of 1996" or whatever year it was...

I could have sold it online for 200, 300, maybe 500 dollars. But back then I was too much of a 'net newb to have any faith or trust in strange concepts such as "Ebay" or "PayPal"... so i just hung on to it.

Kid played with it for 6 minutes. Maybe.

Most annoying toy ever invented. How I wish I'd taken a chance on "online auctions" back then - would have been able to fund my entire xmas on the profit from that one. irritating. elmo.

I just checked eBay and saw none that high.
That said, there are always going to be people who overpay for the trendy thing.

LADY,

I wish had stock in Cabbage Patch Kids, Furby, Tickle Me Elmo AND Beanie Babies !!!

I'm telling ya, I can't tell you how MAD I am at the people who marketed Furby. My niece was devastated when Santa didn't bring Furby. Mind you, Santa left lots of other great stuff, but my niece was convinced Santa didn't really love her. that was not a pleasant Christmas.

Furby was going for $500+ on ebay and I know there were people who paid it. My niece did eventually get a Furby. But still... how many other family holidays were ruined because companies over hyped their products ? Created a demand they couldn't fulfill.

And now Frozen.

Parents are upset that their child does not have a dress from Frozen right now are paying 1600$ on eBay. I wish I had seen this coming! I could have made a small fortune.

Whatever happened to saying NO? Sorry they are sold out, you will have to wait.

I really doubt that the kids are driving this as much as the parents are! You are not a bad parent if your child doesn't get X right this very minute! Quit feeling guilty over whatever parenting sins you have made. Your children (for the most part) will be fine.

Remember Beanie Babies? Giggling Elmo? Did you or someone you know get suckered in?
