Yes, McDonalds has oatmeal and also yogurt parfaits at breakfast. Every once in a while, one of my co-workers (she passes McDonald's every day after she drops her kids off at school in the morning) will bring in oatmeal or yogurt parfaits for her, me, and her mom (family owned business). It's a nice treat. I don't like oatmeal but Christina knows I eat yogurt all the time at breakfast. We often carry in our breakfasts, and eat together when we first get in to work.

If you look, a lot of the ff places offer something that's a little healthier option. If it sells, they'll keep offering it. And maybe add more things. Like a pp said, they can't afford to leave things on the menu that do not sell. And they would not be selling the other (non-healthy options) if people weren't buying.

My green smoothies are very quick to make...the blender does all the work. All I have to do is make sure I have all the ingredients.

I'm in the court that it is always faster to make something at home - toast and an egg take less time than placing an order and waiting for it to be cooked and packaged.

If I eat out, I want it to be because I really want to eat there. emoticon

Today I left the house at 5am and lunch is at 12 and if it sits all day it's not appetizing (my own weird quirk). I have errands to run after work too so it's 12 hours before I can think about dinner. I planned this week to eat lunch on Friday at El Pollo with a friend. I really enjoy their under 500 menu and it's a fun treat.

I did know McDonald's has oatmeal. They advertise heavily on billboards, bus stops, and on tv.

I generally don't go to fast food places. Once in a while I'll take the dog through the drive-thru and get him a small vanilla cone. He's very happy with that!

I'm kind of surprised to see this "McDonald's" discussion is fairly positive overall. There were some discussions here recently with all kinds of propaganda and false claims about "what's in chicken McNuggets" and how McDonald's was the biggest purchaser of "cow eyeballs." Both were lies because some places have far nastier McNuggets than McDonald's does, but whenever fast food is mentioned, people think "McDonald's" when in fact McDonald's does offer healthier options than some of the others, in my opinion. (They offer some high calorie less healthy choices too but the key word here is choices).

The chicken portion of their nuggets are made from 100% white chicken meat. The breading may have some ingredient lists that some will "go to town" with, with their belief that eating McDonald's even occasionally will lead to an early death. But you could take the ingredients listed on flavored herbal tea and do the same thing if you want to convince people long sounding chemical ingredients are poison and the kiss of death. And if those ingredients scare you, you might want to inquire further about what is in some of the somewhat optional OTC and prescription drugs you take regularly. I personally don't eat McNuggets or any of their fried foods because I don't want deep fried foods, period, no matter where I choose to eat. As for the cow eyeballs, that was the biggest dumbest lie ever. Totally made up for shock value but some people bought it anyway.

This discussion shows that many people were actually quite surprised to learn that McDonald's offers oatmeal with fruit, and have for many years. We have a new Tim Horton's in town. I thought okay, I will try lunch there. Their grilled chicken snack wrap was not nearly as tasty as McDonald's snack wrap and they don't put any lettuce on it and don't even offer salads. But hey you can get donuts and calorie laden coffee beverages there. It will be rare if ever that I go to Tim Horton's again. I still have to add that I had some veggie soup there and it was good. I will give them that.

I do not really care for McDonalds food. I will stop if I am hungry and to lazy to cook when I get home. I like the stuff that is not good for me and I refuse to spend money on something I do not like just to eat...that said I try not to stop because I order Mighty Wings or 2/$5 sandwiches. emoticon emoticon

Given that it is McDonald's, I wouldn't trust that their oatmeal is actually just oatmeal. Their fries have all kinds of ingredients that you wouldn't expect, as do their nuggets.

With apple and raisins that would likely more carbs than I could have on a typical day anyhow.

Not to mention that McDonald's is just DISGUSTING. I would not want to eat in a place that looks and smells like that unless there were absolutely no other option.

If you had time to stop at McDonalds, you probably had 2 minutes to cook old fashioned oatmeal in the microwave and put it in a cup for portability.

Can save money by keeping a small bag of oats in your purse and a kids' thermos in your car. Just ask for hot water and add to thermos with oats. Eliminates additives too.

I have heard they have oatmeal. Sadly, I am allergic to oatmeal. However, an Egg McMuffin only has 310 calories. That plus an orange juice isn't a horrible option.

It is very good that they have lower calorie choices now. I still don't like to eat processed foods, but in a pinch it's an improvement over past options!

I don't go to McDonalds very often , but if I do I get a hamburger Happy Meal with lowfat milk, or a small hamburger, a side salad with low fat italian dressing and a diet soda or a bottle of water

I LOVE their oatmeal! So very yummy & I haven't had it in a while. Woohoo - thanks for the reminder! After breakfast, I opt for their bacon, chicken ranch salad, with grilled chicken and a light dressing. So good!

I keep thinking I want to try their egg white delight sandwich, but am just not sure. I LOVE their sausage mcmuffin with egg...soooo good...and soooo many calories :-/.

I haven't tried their oatmeal. I thought it was pretty high for some reason. I am intrigued by both their's and also Chick-fil-a's steal cut oats. Might have to check the calorie counts on those two.

I'll occasionally stop here in a pinch. The Egg McMuffin or parfait are my morning go tos. I will occasionally get a cheeseburger or chicken sandwich (sans mayo) as lunch/dinner which I will pair with fruit which I try to bring with me to have when I know that I may have to grab a sandwich. Not too bad as an occasional meal once in awhile when I'm on the road and need something more substantial than a protein bar.

McDonald's often gets a bad rap, IMO. I worked there back around 1979 when they had fewer healthy options. I have been very pleased to see all the healthier options they have now, such as salads, grilled chicken sandwiches, grilled chicken snack wraps, Egg McDelights (which you can order without meat, of course), and oatmeal. The Yogurt Parfait may not be super healthy but it is not the worst choice possible, at 160 calories (I love them). The low fat ice cream cone at 170 calories is just the best!

I realize a lot of people don't go to McDonald's to eat healthier foods but if I am with someone who wants to go to a Fast food restaurant, I usually choose McDonald's because they have reasonably healthy options if you want to make that choice. Even with all that, I am not advocating that anyone eat a McDonald's or any such restaurant all that often. I don't think it is a terrible place to eat on occasion, though.

I use to get the oatmeal all the time, but I discovered Chick fil a steel oats are better.

Oatmeal and salads is about all we order at McDonalds. The kids meal around here has carrot sticks, and apple slices, too. It's far better than some other menu items.

The only "diet" that works is consistency!

I'm surprised they offer oatmeal. Most people probably don't go to a fast-food joint to order something healthy.

Those places are exactly like the world we live in, some eat healthy some of the time, or most of the time, but not ALL of the time, so they provide what sells, veggie burgers sell, but not enough to keep them on hand all the time, same thing with turkey burgers. If a person wants to worry themselves to death about eating out, carry your cauliflower and tuna in your purse, and order a side salad. Bingo, that is the choice. Every eating establishment can't cater to our tastes at any given moment, and many healthy people have enough "moments" that they want to eat something tasty now and then. Reality.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

McDonalds is trying to be healthy. It's kind of ironic with all the junk they have on the menu. But I do like their French fries. I wish they would offer a veggie burger. Burger King used to have one, wonder if they still do.

This is the first time I had breakfast at McDonalds and often make breakfast sandwichs as dinner. I never seen Oatmeal advertised for breakfast or on coupons..just think its a nice option for someone not hungry for a sandwich.

Yes, this choice has been on their menu for years, but it's not mentioned too often. We like the simple egg mcmuffin meal, too, a fast meal, on the run, and not too bad, particularly compared to other junk you could buy at other places or regular restaurants.........it ain't ALL bad!

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

We had to be somewhere very early this morning, so no time to make breakfast and neither me or my husband felt hungry. So we were running somewhat early and he said lets go to McDonalds for breakfast since there was one close to where we needed to be. I agreed, since I was beginning to feel hungry. He ordered egg, chesse, sausage McMuffin, a hash brown and coffee. As he was placing his order first, I noticed they offered Whole Grain Oatmeal! So thats what I ordered, it came topped with cubed apples and raisins, and ordered a small regular coffee w/1 creamer. I was so happy to see my favorite cereal on the menu and another choice than a breakfast sandwich!
