I too have the loose skin and aged 62.5
I would love to have it removed after losing 50 pounds but it is costly . Iopt to just keep doing strength training to build the muscle which does help to make the loose skin a little firmer looking..

Bikini days are over but I will look just fine in a one piece . My inner thighs have a lot of loose skin but hey, I'm 62.5 and happily married so I don't have anyone to impress. Hubby loves me any way I am.

I am 5'3" and I have lost roughly 130 pounds. I am 34 years old and I started losing my weight at 32

I have loose skin on my stomach and thighs... it is pretty bad but I am not worried about it. I am not experiencing any problems with it. When I work out, I wear SPANX under my workout clothes to keep everything in place. It doesn't bother me otherwise, and I will not be getting it surgically removed.

I also have some on my upper arms, but instead of surgery, I chose to cover them in bright colored tattoos. When someone sees my arms, the last thing they will notice is the little bit of loose skin, instead they see pretty bright flowers and Hello Kitty.

I never planned on having the surgery ... but now I see it as a possibility. I am 59 years old, 5' 2" tall, and lost 55 pounds over a period of a couple years. At that point -- about a year ago -- both my wellness coach (physician's assistant) and my doctor brought up the subject as something reasonable for me to do. At my age, nobody expects it to tighten up much by itself.

However ... I had a bad 2014 and gained about 15 pounds back. I still have plenty of loose skin, but my lack of stability has made me hesitant. So I am putting it off for a little bit longer, hoping to lose that 15 pounds again -- and more. I am "on the fence" at the moment ... but if I were to lose 25 more pounds, I would definitely do it.

Note that there are a variety of procedures that can be done -- some more extensive than others. I would probably choose the least extensive option, hoping for improvement, but not expecting perfection.

emoticon I am 67. I hate my loose skin but there is no way I can afford surgery. I know I will have much more as I have 90 more pounds to lose. It really bothers me and I wonder if I will chafe when I have more especially the apron. I am not looking forward to it even if losing weight means a healthier body and being able to move around better. I have always had a fat image of myself and having all that loose skin isn't going to make me feel any better.

I've lost 108 lbs (I'm 51) and yes, I have lots of loose skin. But I can tell you this....loose skin is way better than carrying around 108 extra pounds!!!

Surgery to remove it?? NO way! It's expensive and a painful recovery.

I read a few posts that people are having problems with rashes because of loose skin and their skin is hanging.

I am overweight and having problems with skin rashes do to the fat layers I have on my stomach, I think it's called "an Apron".

I think it would be so much better to have hanging skin without the fat and hanging skin with fat attached. It is so heavy to carry around. I will gladly trade the loose skin for my fat skin.

The Spark Team "At Goal & Maintaining + Transition to Maintenance" has information on surgery as well as resources to reach acceptance. Here's a link to a thread and if you click on the link in the OP, you should get to a resources page with lots of helpful info.

Otherwise, don't know if your fitness plan includes strength training, but you may want to considering incorporating some.

Congratulations on your success so far!

As I stated, I've lost and gained often, and wasn't shocked and horrified at some loose skin, because I still felt better with the weight gone, it all just seems to "come together" on it's own, no time to look at oneself and wonder and ponder over it. Too much living to do, don't overthink it. Enjoy feeling better for as long as it lasts, reality, my friend. I'm 67, and still dealing with weight, off and on, not even thinking or worrying about "loose skin". It's your choice and if you can afford it, have it removed, it just isn't going to make mental magic happen. Good Luck.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

How long is "In time? I think I look better heavy w/ tight skin then smaller w/ loose skin. I will still lose the weight because I NEED to be healthy...I just find it disappointing that I will have my skin flopping around after I get smaller. emoticon

Let's see, I've lost lots of weight over the years, when I was in my 50's, the loose skin still went away by itself..........but later on, in the early 60's, you might have a problem. But as you lose and gain back, it seems to take care of itself over time. Can you afford to have the skin removed? And if you gain weight back and lose again, you will be in the same boat.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

I have only lost 35 pounds but find my skin on arms, thighs ,belly etc loose and starting to hang. I am 55 so this happens at my age anyway but now that I am losing its very noticeable. I saw on "The Biggest Loser" that they have surgery to take off the extra skin after wt lost. Does anyone have info on this subject ? emoticon
