That is one thing that I like about Spark People and Weight Watchers. You are not forced to cut out entire food groups all at once.

If I want to eat ice cream for lunch. I can and still lose weight. Ok, I don't seriously recommend eating ice cream for lunch. You see though last week I wanted some and well I ate it. And I still lost weight.

It's all about making small changes. Like my dad and I. He has lost over forty pounds. What does he do differently? Instead of a candy bar in the afternoon. He eats baby carrots. If he wants something really sweet. He will get a serving of dried fruit. I was starving this afternoon before dinner and followed his example. Reached for the carrots instead of the candy. We do eat candy sometimes. It is just a rare occasion now and not every day.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

Any diet works, if you STAY on it, but you won't stay on it, pure and simple..............you will go on a different one every couple of weeks, because you get tired of them..........nothing new at all..............we all have said, "I'm going to stick to this fad diet and prove everyone wrong", but it ain't gonna be that way. Follow the healthy plan on this site. The clues a person gives when on a Fad diet, are that they "tweek the plan to fit", lord have mercy, we have been there and done that already. Give yourself some grace time and follow a healthy plan.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

Sorry for the confusion. I was just responding to the "Shill warning alert".

I wanted everyone to know I'm not intentionally promoting the sales of any book. Just wanted everyone to know it helped me start to loose weight ( finally). I also am pleased it's a healthier way of eating for me. Now when I go into a supermarket, I am amazed to see all the foods I used to buy and all the healthy choices I am now making.

Also, if anyone has any tips for making this work long term ( since it is a fad diet ).

Thank you for all the responses. It is motivating me to try and make this work this time around.

Why, oh why, do people post questions on message boards asking for opinions.....then get angry at responses that do not jive with their way of thinking?

I'm confused as to the point of it.

The postings ought to be: "This is what I plan on doing (X). Let me know what you think of it, but in reality, only post positive things about it."

I don't know anything about the book being discussed or if it's the No Sugar Diet the OP is asking about.

Just wanted to comment, though, that invariably when I control my intake of added sugars (not including the natural sugar inherent in many healthy foods), I do lose weight.

Moving in new directions.

I am sorry, but you have lost me. I simply asked for information about the NO SUGAR DIET. I did not challenge you and you do not have to prove me wrong on anything.

I'm just a regular person. I think quite a few of us started out on a fad diet and then came to this site to continue to loose weight and learn to be healthy.
I want to thank you for the challenge you just gave me to continue on this path and prove you wrong!

I did the 100 sugar calorie diet for 2 weeks and dropped 13 lbs! It's what has motivated me to keep going and log onto this website. I have a lot to loose, so if I can start looking better quickly, it will motivate me to keep going.
I don't know how to eat. It's why I am overweight. His book has simple menu plans and I just followed them to the letter.
I will admit that I am craving carbs. However, I know it's just the sugar withdraw. I am eating completely different then I was. I think that is a very good sign. Eating smaller meals more often and eating lots of vegetables is really helping with the hunger.
My worse time is after dinner. Now if I need something I grab a 1/2 glass of red wine and I'm more then satisfied. (It used to be chips).
I do agree that fad diets don't work in the long haul, but this diet will be easy to tweak by just adding more healthy sugar calories and yet keep eating healthy.

Yet another fad diet. Fad diets do not work.

Here is a review of it. www.shape.com/blogs/weight-loss-coach/100-
diet-will-counting-sugar-calories-help
-you-lose-weight

I copied in the first paragraph, and the last paragraph if you want to save yourself the read:

Just when things seem quiet on the diet front, a new book is released. The latest to catch my attention is Jorge Cruise’s The 100: Count Only Sugar Calories and Lose Up To 18 Lbs. In 2 Weeks. As I read the book’s front jacket I became skeptical. How about promoting slow, gradual healthy weight loss, which is one to two pounds per week, like the majority of nutrition experts would agree on? My red flag was immediately drawn, but I continued to read on anyway.

Bottom line: Start focusing on eating a well-balanced, portion-controlled diet that includes lean protein, high–fiber carbs, low-fat dairy, healthy fats, and plenty of fruits and veggies. Skip The 100 Diet and counting sugar calories, unless you want to be on the gearing up for the next trendy diet.

The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.

Have any of you followed the 100 sugar calories diet? Is there any positives or negatives you can tell me about it? Thanks
