I like this piece of advice. If you really look into it, most restaurants have something that you can either order and "hold" some items, or you can substitute a healthier option. We have eaten at Outback Steakhouse, Subway (which sounds easy, but you still have to watch), Applebee's, Chili's, Olive Garden etc., and done it within range. One thing to watch, though, is that sometimes those healthier options cost quite a bit more.
Make sure that your lunch is better than any take out that they might bring back to the office.
My co workers are always bringing in food: pizza, wraps, cookies, whatever. And to make it even worse: IT'S FREE!
I do not want to eat that junk so I make sure that my food is better then theirs. Yesterday I had grilled steak and asparagus. The day before home made chicken Alf redo. I take the time to make my lunch a rally good meal. Same with my snacks.
I eat with them, but I eat better then they do. And I feel good the rest of the day!

Do they come back and eat in the office? If so, join them with your packed lunch! A lot of people in my office will go get something and then bring it back and eat in the conference room. So if I packed lunch that day, I'll just join them when they get back.
Well...maybe next time look at the menu to see if there are healthy options. Depends on the place, maybe a grilled chicken salad with low fat dressing. Turkey wrap. Soup. That kind of stuff.
Or, order something, and only eat half...bring the other half home for dinner or save for the next day's lunch.
How often do they get takeout? I used to just get it on friday....kinda as an end of the week treat - not every day.
You do need to learn to work in the occasional treat. Cause life happens! You might decide to have that 700 calorie occasional lunch - and make it a point to have a smaller, lower calorie dinner. Or even once and a while go above your intake by 200 calories - doing that on occasion (notice I keep using the words "on occasion") will not kill you. Yes, doing so every day will stall your weight loss....once a week? Not so much.
The best exercise in the world is to bend down and help someone up.
Really struggling today. Trying to stick to the plan, but everyone in the office is getting takeout. I said no, and maybe just take a walk while they eat and eat at my desk later. This is the hard part for me, and probably why I gained 20lbs since I went back to work full time.
