tofu, nuts and other soya products are very high in protein. even having one or two meatless meals a week is great for your health. Best of luck

In the Spark Recipes.... DH and I really like the Rustic Tomato Lentil Soup. (We're not vegetarians, we just do meatless dinners twice a week.) I usually do not add the pasta called for in the recipe, and instead serve the soup with a side of Triscuits and some cheese, to boost the protein.

Protein isn't the only thing you should be concerned about. You need B12. You can get from supplements or foods fortified with B12 like cereal and soymilk.

Portobello mushroom burgers with healthy toppings are fantastic. In fact using Portobello or the smaller cremini mushrooms are a great substitute for meat lovers.

I use black beans to supplement my chilis...great taste. Often used in bean burgers.

DIGIT00: Boca and Morning Star are the only things I have found may be I need to go to Trader Joe's and see what they have. Have you tried any of the recipes on the Spark page?

CARPETCRAWLER: I have a can of chick peas not sure why to do with them, I'll find something this weekend. Thanks for the great info.

ETHELMERZ: This is a Lent thing and we have for the past few years (when my bonus daughter came here to live) given up meat and only have fish on Fridays. We have picked up some flax seed and some other seeds with hopes to add fiber and protein to our diets.

Check the vegetarian section, usually in the freezer section at the grocery store. There's a couple of newer products now.. name brand is Gardein.. or maybe it's Gardien... anyway, they have "hamburger patties" that really taste like hamburgers. Same with their "chicken" strips and patties. If you have a Krogers near you, they have a brand, Simple Truth. They also have the fake meat products along with other organic foods. This is what my girls and I ate last year when we went meatless during Easter. I liked the food so much, I stayed with it throughout the year. Morningstar is another product that we enjoyed, though I liked the others a bit better. Bocca products I won't touch with a 10 foot pole.

You can eat beans and rice, peanut butter, minestrone soup, split peas and lentils. There are lots of ways to get protein when you go meatless. Hummus is very tasty.

Why eat fish only on Friday's, have fish more often, eat sardines or tuna, that is a great way to get protein. Otherwise, it's the old bean trick, lentils, eggs, milk, cheese number, especially when he is not around. Protein powder is there, but it doesn't taste great. That's the problem with this kind of thing. You will count the days, but go for fish.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

Ok so my husband is meatless till Easter so my daughter and I as always have decided that we will do the same (when he is around emoticon ). I was wondering if anyone knows how to get more protein in our now not so protein meals. We will eat fish but only on Fridays, I am trying to keep things simple and healthier any advice would be helpful.
