I am sorry. Two days without water would be difficult. Maybe stock up on the days that you do have water?

Yes, water storage on the roof can also be called a cistern.

Don't whine OP--take some action. Write a letter, contact your political representative, launch a protest, etc.

I would say if possible, buy some water containers for storage. When the water comes on, then start to stockpile.

I think this is the perfect place to voice our ups and downs..sometimes we have no other sounding board..as it does help to have input during a crisis in our lives. It wonderful as well to have caring individuals support.
My thought is..We are so blessed to have what we have. It could be alot worse..I have a friend who lived in Fiji and the conditions after a natural disaster were very unpleasant.
Just a suggestion...store some water..and then you will have enough to do your basic's..If you need to bathe ..do a sponge bath. Need to do dishes..you have a stove..heat your water and wash away.
One day you will look back on this experience and find you can do hard things.
Find the good in this time and help others who are toughing it out as well.. It seems that when we help others..even in the face of trials...it eases the burden.

Write letters to your local authorities, we can't do anything about it, here. Join or start a group where you live, to find out why this is going on, and you weren't prepared for it earlier than now. We can't do one thing to help you, on this forum.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

Water is our most precious commodity. We are all so used to turning on the faucet and fresh, clean water comes out. It is not so for many people in this world. I don't think it is politics. At least you can be prepared for the days of no water. And, by the way: you say it is not fair. Who ever promised us fair???

I've just been reading the replies on the 'Lent' thread and now I've come to this one. Maybe you need to look at this as a challenge for lent - to get through it with as good grace and as little complaining as possible.

I can imagine 2 days without water must be very hard. Have they put standpipes up in the street for you or do you have to store everything you're going to need for 2 days?

It's our fault in UK. I'm really sorry about it. We've had the wettest winter on record with lots of places completely flooded, so I'm really sorry if we had your rain. I'd give it back to you if I could!

Well. In the face of drought, if you don't ration now, you'll have NO water, PERIOD, later. That would be an unimaginable calamity. There's no "fair or unfair" here. It looks like the weather, not the politics, is behind the current issue. As to why some areas are not *yet* on water rationing, they will either be in a different catchment area that isn't quite as depleted just yet, or they may be agricultural properties (which will be the LAST ones to see cuts - for if you lose water to agriculture, you end up with no-water and no-FOOD, too).

Hmm another interesting article:
www.channelnewsasia.com/news/asiapacific/m
alaysia-starts-cloud/1018912.html

Rationing has, apparently, now been ramped up to "cover 200 more districts in the Klang Valley, affecting almost 2.2 million people"...

I hardly think you're being singled out, Eowyn.

Azulvioleta, I'm not sure, here when we say "cistern" we usually refer to a veeery big container that is underground.
And we have another word ("tinaco") for a smaller container that goes on top of your house, that's the one I mean. Like these?

As miserable as being without water is, it's doubtful that it was a political decision. First of all, politics is done by districts. That means if it were about politics an entire district would be out of water at the same time. So everyone who lives in a voting district would be out, not as the OP suggests that some people have it and others don't. Most decisions about water are made by a supposedly non-partisan board (at least in my area), so no single politician has the authority to shut water off. It is a separate entity not under the authority of any local government. In addition, it seems like if it were a political decision than the water would be off constantly for several days. The rotating water implies that it is either a drought or water pipes. We once had water off and on for about 6 weeks while they replaced the entire water system in our township. Some people were affected more than others, but it happens.
When water pipes are being replaced, sometimes certain areas are without water, sometimes for an extended period of time, sometimes on and off, and sometimes for a short time. If there is a drought, it makes sense to rotate who gets water on which days in order to allow everyone to have water at some point. If some people have water all the time, then maybe they get their water from a different source.

Definitely prepare for the off days. You're right that it should be equal for all.
A few months ago our town had a broken water pipe in a certain area so they were without for awhile --we were not affected.

Could you shower at someone's house where it's not shut off?

without knowing specifics I doubt politics is behind it. Ordering a boil alert or rationing is unpopular, expensive and generally unproductive for everyone involved. No one does that for spite even with the low expectations I have for politicians and bureaucrats of all stripes.

Politicians and bureaucrats will do stupid things if it benefits them personally. This benefits no one

wow :S that sounds horrible.... well, no, 2 days shouldn't be that bad. I mean, most houses have one of those... I don't know the exact word in English but, those like water storage tanks. Here when they cut off the water because they're repairing something, the water from the tank can last for almost a week if we're careful.

If you don't have one of those storage thingies maybe you could store some water...during the days you do have water...? :S

Is your country under a drought at all? Sometimes that can affect water sources differently. It happens here in the US too. I can't say I have heard of the tap being completely shut off for two days at a time but water does get rationed to help save a precious resource.

My housing area has been put on water rationing for the whole month of March! But certain areas don't have to! It's so unfair. We have water for 2 days then the taps are dry for the next 2 days, alternately till April!

I can't even shower today bcoz of the lack of water! But some of my friends have water all the time! I bet politics is behind it! They are making those ppl who didn't vote for them a hard time! I mean, if the reservoir levels are low, everyone should get water rationing! Why are they being so selective?!

Our politicians are robbing the country blind! And now, this!!
