I was just diagnosed as pre-diabetic last week because I was getting the shakes and passing out. I get grumpy when the shakes start up but I don't know how to stop them yet. Hope I figure that out soon!

I get grumpy when my sugar is up. Are you staying within the 4 ranges on your nutrition tracker?

Are you eating enough? I half-jokingly (so, half-seriously) call that condition "hangry" - when I'm angry because I'm hungry!

When I first started, I was SUPER hangry when I tried staying too close to 1200 cal, I found a good balance between losing weight and acting like a decent human being (LOL) at an average of 1800 calories. I also made it a point to not deprive myself of anything, but to have a sensible portion and work it in to my calorie goal. If I had met my calorie goal for the day, I could save that cookie for tomorrow. Cookies are always there tomorrow, just so you know.

Do something everyday that your future self will thank you for.

You must be new to dieting, lol. My husband calls this my "fish wife" period, and he gets tired of it and buys me some dark chocolate or f/f frozen yogurt or something, to get me to eat something and raise the serotonin levels. I've lost weight a bunch of times, this type of attitude is normal, any diet means you have to deprive yourself at least a little bit, and a person doesn't like that!! If a person has been living "high off the hog" for a long time, some deprivation is necessary, and it's not easy to get used to doing that, even if it's reasonable to finally DO IT! That is one reason I keep Skinny Cow bars in the freezer at all times, and something like that is my 7 pm treat, to have something good and tasty to look forward to. Figure out what it would be for You, some treat every day that isn't over board in calories.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

My grumpiness is most definitely weather-related. I live in Kansas and we've had a very long winter - it snowed this past weekend and was below zero a couple of times this week and it is friggin March! I hate being cold, I hate being stuck inside, I hate having to bundle up just to walk out to the mailbox - I am so ready for warmer weather so I can be outside working in my garden and yard and going for walks! I'm even anxious to be able to mow the yard! Now all I have to do is remember this rant this summer when it's 100 degrees outside with 80% humidity!

Maybe it is the weather? Depending on where you live.

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

Maybe it could be sugar withdrawal symptoms - if you've cut back on that.

AV_MOM2,

This is not unusual. Many members have posted that they seem to be angry when they decide they need to lose weight. I too suspect this a result of a lack of food. Many people may not realize it, but they may be sunconsciously angry because they can't eat what they'd like. And perhaps, you might not be eating enough. Many women do tend to cut their caloric intake far too drastically when they decide they need to lose. So, if you look at your food diary, check to make sure that you are eating enough food and calories to sustain your busy day as well as nourish your body. Food can effect our moods.

Also, not to get nosy, but is your menstrual cycle coming up ? There is nothing like a PMS mood swing to make us short tempered.

Just a few random thoughts

I notice that I get grumpy if I cut my calories too low. I find that I am happier eating more, not less. I think it's because my body is getting more fuel to use as energy (:

I have noticed that since I have started on my healthy eating journey that I have been so grumpy. I snap at my husband and kids for no apparent reason. I just have been in a bad mood. Has anyone else experienced this? Maybe I need the cookies to make me sweet. :)
