not a fan of any pre-made foods. They always have too much sodium to being with and then you have no clue what's really in them. Years ago my hubby & son ate hot pockets, but we've all gone on to much better choices.
If the journey was easy I wouldn't appreciate the benefits I reap.

=( I brought a hot pocket in for lunch I actually fell off the boat a bit with eating cleaner/healthier foods, hence why I have hotpocket. Thanks for the motivation to get back into eating healthier!!! I must admit though, I LOVE hotpockets, they are yummy and convenient... but everything in moderation I guess
I've never eaten one and don't intend to. Too processed for my liking. There are healthier and cheaper alternatives to that stuff, such as rice and beans or pasta or potatoes. Soups (homemade) can also be cheaper and healthier. Shopping in season for veggies and fruit helps keep the cost down a bit, too.

I eat lean pockets for breakfast at least 3 mornings. They are less than a dollar each, take 2 minutes to make from the freezer, and I can eat them in my car on the way to work. I try getting the ones with broccoli or spinach too, and avoid the pizza ones.
processed food may be convenient but it isn't necessarily cheaper than buying rice, beans, and chicken leg quarters. For what it would cost to feed a family of four, you can buy healthy alternatives versus hot pockets.

I read an article about this the other day. I think it's super weird and suspect that it was only one flavor of hot pockets. Where are they getting the "meat" for the other flavors? I had just seen the documentary Food, Inc the day before this news broke so I found it pretty odd. I don't think I've had a hot pocket in over a year, but yes I'm guilty of eating them as a convenience food in the past. Only the pepperoni ones, never had the philly steak. I will avoid all in the future.
What puzzles me is how we decide which parts of an animal are yummy and which parts are gross. Really, why are beef lips disgusting if beef ribs aren't? I'm not criticizing, because I actually have the same reaction, but I just wonder why our culture has chosen to classify different parts of the same animal in such different ways.
As for Hot Pockets, I would be more concerned about the partially hydrogenated vegetable oil in the crust than about the mystery meat on the inside.
Hot Pockets, to me, are way too little food for too many calories. Even the Lean Pockets are too many calories, as far as I'm concerned. At least for the amount of food you get, they are. Some of the Hot Pockets are nearly 300 calories for just one. I can think of much better things to blow 300 calories on.
