[Pounds Lost (8)] x [100] / [Starting weight (167)] = 4.8

8 pounds is the 4,8% of 167 and that's the % of the weight you have lost.

If you use your current weight like this
(8) x (100) / (159) = 5
it would be like saying that you have lost 5% of the 159 pounds that you weigh, which isn't true because you still weigh 159lb. You can't use your current weight, you always have to use the starting weight.

When you calculate percentage of weight lost, do you use the starting weight, or your current weight?

For example, I started at 167lbs, and Ive lost 8 lbs. If I use the original weight, I've lost 4% but if I use my current weight, Ive lost 5%.

That difference between those two percents is just going to get bigger with the loss in weight, so I feel like I should know which # I should be using. :-)
