My requirements are dishwasher safe, with a straw and spill proof so that when the cats knock it over it doesn't make a mess. The lid also keeps the cats from deciding that my drink is better than their drink.....

I don't use purchased water bottles when I can fill up my nice container with my own distilled water. Lots cheaper and better for the environment. I don't want to contribute to the pile of empty bottles at the landfills.

I've got about 6 Contigo water bottles (from Costco). I fill them with filtered water from home.

I definitely look for BPA free - I don't care about insulated because I prefer water at room temperature. The one I'm using at the moment has a flip up sippy-type of top on it - I removed the straw and just drink from it that way so I don't have to unscrew the lid whenever I want a drink. Another good option is stainless (don't have to worry about melting those!)

Some of my friends use their pretty wine glasses at home, since they don't drink wine anymore, rather than a bottle of any kind.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

I have Nalgenes and Tervis. My Tervis are mostly University of Alabama cups/ bottles and my Nalgenes are from different places. Use whatever motivates you or makes you smile when you look at it.

I love using bottles. My cousin suggested it to me, a great idea. Mine recently had a melt down near the flame on my stove emoticon I now use a 36 ounce plastic jar, but will buy a new water bottle.

my daily water bottle is a 1/2 gallon Coleman jug - inexpensive & efficient

I do have smaller water bottles for bike rides and when I'm out running errands

A water bottle is definitely a personal preference. Most of them these days are BPA free, but you need to double check. I like Contigo, just my preference. It's large - 24 ozs, I like the way the water comes out, the handle, it's see through so I can see how much I've drank, etc. Some people like straws . . . I don't. This one won't spill if you knock it over - important to me as it's on my desk at work all day. I just find it comfortable to drink out of. As I said . . . it's a very personal preference! Good luck on your search :)
Oh, and don't forget to run it through the dishwasher at least 1x per week, it's a breeding ground for bacteria!

Blessings,
Nancy

I have an insulated Camelbak. I like the insulated better because I prefer cold water so the condensation from the ice doesn't affect anything like the table underneath it. I use my water bottle everyday. It took me a little while to find one that I liked, so if you're going to get a water bottle to use constantly, definitely take your time in choosing.
One bad thing about the Camelbak is that the bite piece part of the straw gets moldy. I do have a special brush to clean it out (found it online) and I do change out the bite piece (also ordered online), but that does take time.

Buy one that doesn't have a straw component to it as that is one more thing to worry about losing. Definitely BPA free.....My favourite is the Camelbak which is more expensive but last forever.

There are lots of different opinions on what water bottle to buy. One thing to look for is a bottle that is BPA free.

This link will explain what to look for in a water bottle. No, all water bottles were not created equal. You might have to spend a little extra money to get a bottle that isn't harmful to you or the environment.
