Hi. Cynthia here and I really am in need of some suggestions.
I have had chronic stress for as long as I can remember. It seems like I am almost always in fight or flight mode and often overreact over things that aren't that big of a deal. Does anyone relate? The more stressed I get the more my body tenses up,, my fibro flares, and migraines hit.
My dr. told me the other day when I went in for my migraines (had had them for nearly 2 weeks). I told her about all that has been going on the last 6 weeks or so. She looked at me and very kindly told me that there was nothing she could give to reduce stress, that I would have to make life changes; one includes getting out of unhealthy relationship.. She did however give me medicine for the headaches.
So how does one get out of fight or flight mode? I've been there for years due to PTSD. I want to relax but honestly don't know how. I do in some ways...the relaxation CD's with breathing exercises, hot bath and such, but it lasts short term. Is there a way to learn to be less stressed?
In short all the stress has taken its toll on my body. I have had migraines since my teens and fibromyalgia for 4 years.
I do see a therapist. Just am hoping to get some ideas from y'all.
