the one I had for part of my breakfast tasted so good. It has the potassium that my body needs.

I love them and will have a really ripe one when I have a sugar craving. I also freeze them for smoothies or "ice cream".

I eat them 5-7 times per week; other than melons, they are the only raw fruit I can eat with my gastroparesis.

That's interesting about the leg cramps as I've occasionally had terrible cramp in the night and didn't know about the link to bananas. I normally have 4 or 5 a week either on my breakfast cereal or as a snack. I think they're good for you ...... except for a friend who has more like 4 or 5 a day and then had a health scare because his potassium levels were dangerously high.

It depends.

If you have high blood pressure or leg cramps, they are great for you.

If you have diabetes, they are bad for you.

They are extremely high in sugar/carbs. A single banana can have 30 carbs, which is what you might get in an entire healthy meal. They are also fairly high on the glycemic index--the riper the banana, the more they spike your blood sugar.

It's really not a great fruit choice. There are other ways to get potassium. Things like berries and cherries are fruits that are MUCH better for you.

If you must have banana, eat half of one instead of the whole thing.

I'm not aware of any reports about them being bad for you. I eat them three or four times a week. If I don't, I get leg cramps.

I think they are good. Have not heard anything bad unless allergic. I have one every morning.

I had a banana for breakfast this morning! I think they are fine in moderation.

Haven't heard anyone say they are bad for you, unless you have an allergy or medical condition that precludes eating them.

Good for you! I don't think they were ever bad for you.

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

I don't know what the foodies say about it but I say they are good for you in moderation.

I know that I need them and physically miss them via leg cramps when I am without them for too long!
