I let myself have it, but then I don't have any more sweet treats for at least a week. I did not follow this strategy during the holidays, though. Sometimes, you just have to splurge and be done with it and get right back on track. Easier said than done, but that seems to work for me. Sometimes if I don't give in, I will eat a bunch of other food I really didn't want that adds up to more calories than the sweet treat I really wanted.

Seriously. I notice that I have cravings when I'm not eating well. Either I haven't enough in terms of calories or I haven't had enough fat or protein in my diet. I also plan things that I used to crave into my diet.
For example, I really like peanut butter. So my after workout snack is a slice of whole multi grain bread with 2 tbsps. peanut butter. I really like chocolate. So I have a chocolate protein shake every morning that tastes like chocolate milk. I like oatmeal chocolate chip cookies so I have a Fiber One Oats and chocolate chip bar every morning.
I've found planning healthier substitutes and including them in my regular diet keeps me going nuts over the unhealthier foods.
I crave sugar daily and trying to trick my mouth into believing it's had it when I drink diet soda or something like that doesn't work for me. Sometimes I give in, sometimes I can feel the craving and tell myself that it is ok to want something and not have it. Depends how stressed out I am I will be able to bear it, or I will just inhale it.

Sometimes I drink green tea and the craving goes away. But usually I just let myself have about 100 calories of candy, like gummy bears, a day and that keeps things like bingeing on sweets from happening.

I used to love the fat-free Hunt's chocolate pudding cups (80 calories).... then another and another and another.... I started realizing that the only thing it meant to me was I could have more. My bad.......I don't buy them anymore.
I stick to fruit.
