I love sandwich thins too! 100 calories per serving that also has 5 grams of fiber and 5 grams of protein...love it! I get mine at the local bakery thrift store....sometimes I am lucky and can catch them there for 50 cents a pack and they last longer than regular bread. Oh and they are awesome to use to make homemade breakfast sandwiches in the morning!

I'm lucky enough to have a great bakery that makes a wonderful multi-grain bread. My husband swears it's made out of leaves, sticks and twigs! I really like it as I can see the seeds LOL. It's very dense and chewy and high in fiber.
I buy a loaf and freeze it, one loaf lasts me about 3 weeks.
Hopefully you have some place in your town where you can find something like it.
I like whole wheat bread when I eat it, usually on a sandwich. Lately though I have given up bread due to the sugar content. I just eat my lunch meat wrapped around a piece of cheese, I never was one to eat bread with every meal. I know there are low sugar breads available but I haven't gone looking yet and I suspect they will be higher in price. I am happy with my meat wrap for now.
I like grainy breads like 12-grain. One of our favorites is Oroweat with Omega 3. It's a moist bread that retains a chewy texture when toasted. With bread, remember though, one slice is a serving. Also, if you bake, check out making your own breads -- they are cheaper, and you can experiment with all kinds of grains and ingredients -- there are multitudes of recipes on the computer for healthy breads......and the aroma of them baking is wondrous (especially if you live in a cold climate -- it gives you the excuse to warm up your home with the oven)!

For me, bread is a trigger food...and I used to only eat 100% Whole Wheat bread.... I'm much better eating brown rice, beans, or having a baked potato (sweet or plain) to satisfy my starch cravings. And I will make extra brown rice and leave it in the fridge for future meals.
