I rarely get bored but if I get the feeling then I quickly find something to do that alleviates it. My biggest problem with boredom is that I get bored sometimes with other peoples conversation. This happens a lot with my elderly parents that have told me the same stories over and over again or with anybody that just goes on and on about something ridiculous to me. I tend to just zone out when I can't get away.

sometimes even while I'm doing something, I'm bored. It's like I'm bored & although there are lots of things available to me, I'm forcing myself into action.

If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat. (auth unk)

The actual question as stated is not relevant to me because I am never bored!

I am sometimes tired, depressed, mad, sad, angry, content to do nothing, happy, peaceful, lots of moods.

But. Never. Bored.

Life is finite, the universe (I guess) is possibly infinite, although I don't know the science of that. Maybe it'll all blow up sometime, but for now I believe it is expanding. Lol, not a scientist, haven't the brain power, but anyhow t'is a heck of a great big ol' universe.

Adopting an attitude of boredom is a waste of precious time. There is too much to do and discover.

And then we have our imaginations to create new things to do and think about.

Maybe folks who think they are bored are just imagining it.

Resolved in 2014 to remain below 120!

I'm creative by nature and I learned early in life how to find something to do to entertain myself. I love Einstein's quote: "Creativity is Intelligence having fun".
If someone is a Spark member, they have access to the internet....how can you not find something to do? There are tons of events posted, things to learn, projects to try.

But I know exactly what it's like to deal with 'bored' people. As a young adult, I took it upon myself to take my 6 cousins (ages 9 thru 17...inner city kids) on a camping trip to a place in Upstate NY, that had a swimming pool, canoes, hiking, a river within 100 feet, and a lot of friendly teens camping around us. I even had my Siberian Husky with us who wanted to play all the time. I kept hearing the words "I'm bored". I put them all to work doing something...they never complained again. They had a blast.

People who complain about boredom usually don't know what they want, and they hope someone will come up with the magic answer.

As children, if any of my siblings or cousins dared to say we were bored, we were immediately put to work, usually weeding the garden, cracking nuts, or some other really boring chore that the adult in charge determined would alleviate our boredom.

As an adult, I think I was so well conditioned as a child to not be bored that I always manage to find something to entertain myself with. There is always a book to be read, a movie to watch, a game to play, a craft to complete or if nothing else, a house to clean!

I'm dealing with my boredom right now.

When I get bored I get on the computer....or I go work on my art stuff. Today I going back and forth between the two.

**LINDA**

Weight loss is accomplished with the mind.

A person who wants something WILL find a way....a person who doesn't will find an excuse.

Which do you prefer?
The pain of self discipline?....or...the pain of self regret?

Rarely do I get "bored", since I was a kid I always had something to do and/or something to keep myself occupied and it wasn't always a productive acton but an action nonetheless.

Sometimes I am at a loss for words when a friend or family member tells me that they're bored and don't know what to do with themselves (my gf can be this way) and when I make a suggestion or two at times the reply is, " no, I don't want to do that." Lol, I know regardless what my suggestions would be that their answer would be no.

Question (this is the actual question, the above is a primer to help solidify or frame the topic question): "if you are prone to becoming bored, are you the type to take action to not be bored or are you the type to take no action and remain bored?"
