a night gown from my cousin. Mind you, I LOATHE night gowns. I've hated them for years. I'm a PJs kinda gal. My cousin is the one who loved night gowns, not me. I kept it. it's in a drawer, some where. she also gave me a paper mache pin. it was her idea of funky jewelry. funky was being generous. it was an odd piece of jewelry. I still have that too.
Even though my name is Patti, everyone around me knows that I am not a peppermint lover. I have had various people over the years, in particular one of my nephews, buy me boxes of peppermint patties (with him every year). I even have trouble finding other people to give them to -- and what's even harder is trying to fake my surprise and love for them so I don't hurt feelings -- I've seen the cheeks being bitten by other family members that know me when I realize what I am opening.
Bless all of their hearts!

Keep a sense of humor. Remember, laughing burns calories too!
Laugh until it hurts! It's one of the few things in life that's still free!!

My Grandma gave me soap (when I was around 15) with a picture of Jesus on it. I am not sure if she meant it as an ordinary religious gift or a "you need to cleanse yourself of your sins" gift... I wish I still had it as an adult though, you know to make my house guests feel uncomfortable

I was listening to folks call in on the radio about oddest gifts - a mom gave her vegetarian daughter a leather coat. The other daughter was laughing so hard telling the story. The mom couldn't figure out why that was such a big deal...the mom kept insisting, "well, she wouldn't EAT the coat!"
My mother gave me a silk blouse in a loud chartreuse green print that was 2 sizes too big. When I thanked her and asked her to return it, she told me she couldn't because she had purchased it at a goodwill thrift store. Well.....at least it was a donation to a worthy cause...from the original owner who donated it, to my mother who bought it, and to the goodwill box in my neighborhood.

Let's keep this fun please! I know and so do you that you should be grateful for every gift and kindness received. And that it's the thought that counts. But sometimes one must wonder what others think about us!
My worst was a scale ...and I wasn't trying to lose weight and hadn't even hinted that I would want a scale!
Another was from a boy friend: a 2X shirt in a color that would look lovely on a person with olive skin tones and dark hair....I wore a Large and am the whitest skinned blonde you could hope to meet. Snow has more color than I do.
Another was half of a set of "Shadow Cats". The other one was given to my sister. We each had our own homes....
I'm sure there were others over the years...underwear as a kid type things...But I'm sure you, my favorite spark peoples, can come up with some really interesting ones!
