so far I haven't been to any Christmas parties.

The personal trainer had one for her clients the same day I helped with the Christmas parade. I was on my feet non-stop from 7:30 am until after 1. By party time that night, I was snoozing.

Our Sunday school party was the Sunday evening following parade day. I was still tired!

my employer couldn't find an available location with a favorable date/time open, so we will have a Happy 2014 get together some time in January.

I know what you mean about the homemade goodies. So much temptation. I think you did very well!

Thanks for all the insight and support. I'm back on track today and don't feel as bad as I did last night. It is a journey and everyone will have setbacks.

We don't get many perks where I work but the annual Christmas party is the exception.

Wow I didn't think companies had Christmas parties anymore due to fiscal restraint.

Here's a variation on one of Stephen Covey's concepts;

Between seeing food and eating that food there is a space that exists where you alone get to make that choice to eat it or not.

I sometimes ask myself this; will this make me hotter looking? Not BETTER looking mind you, but HOT!

Just do better tomorrow!

A couple of years ago, I was at a party at the home of an acquaintance when I saw her cat walk across the kitchen counter where food was actively being prepared. From the way she acted, it was obvious that she did not mind and that it was a normal occurrence. She did not sterilize the counter afterwards. Before that, I would never have guessed that this was someone whose cooking environment would be contaminated in such a blatant way.

So now, when I go to potlucks, I just think about cat feet and all of the possible places they have been. Unless I am absolutely sure about someone's housekeeping skills and understanding of germ theory, I just do not eat home-prepared foods.

It really cuts down on the calories. :)

Sounds have a plan to get back on track.

Remember it is only a failure if you give up completely. This is a learning experience.

Try not to think of today as a failure. This was one meal in a lifetime of meals. This is a journey not a quick trip around the block.

You are going to have days where you eat more, days where you eat less, days you can't stand the thought of working out and days where you enjoy every minute of your work out.

Hopefully, the goal is to have more days where you are able to eat a healthy diet, have a good workout and enjoy your success. Hopefully your goal is not to "Be Perfect". None of us are perfect. And sausage and cheese rolls sound really good.

There is lots of temptation in the office environment; eating out daily with co-workers, weekly donuts and bagels, cook-offs and other sabotage to one's diet.

It's hard but I had resisted until today. Something about the smell of warm muffins with sausage and cheese baked inside just made me say, "Eat Me"

KKlenner, we are a medium sized company but it was our department Christmas party. I wanted to go because we are a relatively small group and honestly, got to leave work early. I would love to avoid temptation but feel that in the end, I will have to face those obstacles in life. I failed, but not miserably. I still feel guilty...

MLan. That's my goal. Fewer calories and carbs over the next three days to correct my obvious bad day.

Why do bad things have to taste so good?

Thanks for your feedback and support.

LadyCJM, You are absolutely right; I did not pig out. It just stinks that so little can throw one overboard. I personally chose to take a day off tomorrow to re-coop and get back in the swing of things. I am early in this journey so the smell of the sausage muffins sent me into a frenzy!

Thanks for your feedback and support!

I don't care for office parties, so not going will certainly avoid temptation. That may only work for me though.

I did my best today, tomorrow I will do even better.

Yeah, it's tough. Personally, When this happens to me, I try to eat fewer calories across a few days. And I do not use the gym as punishment or going overboard. However, I try and get more active to help make up for the indulgence.

It's one day! It's okay. As long as it doesn't become a habit you are okay.

It sounds like you ate a reasonable amount, you didn't pig out and eat 10 cookie balls and 5 muffins and 6 different casseroles! You could have easily consume an extra 1500 calories at one of these parties.
So you ate a few fattening foods, you are back on track, you will work out tomorrow and you can pat yourself on the back and say I didn't do so badly after all!

I know many of you feel the same... How do you survive the Office temptations along with the annual Christmas Party?

I have to say that I encountered mine today and can't say that I passed with flying colors. I am currently 600 calories over my goal along with approximately 30 Carbs over goal.

It's a bad day of gorging to say the least. What's your experience been? I find it hard to pass up homemade goodies such as Oreo Balls and Cheese and Sausage Muffins. What can I say other than I chose to eat minimally ( 1 Oreo Ball and two of the mini muffins) and still surpassed my daily goal.

I have a vacation day tomorrow and will start the day out at the gym to burn off the excess junk. It sucks but I hope it's only a minor setback.
