I can do this: Spend the extra amount of money for the good chocolate. A local cholatier is your best bet. The extra money is worth it, because mass produced chocolate is just not that good.

ICANDOTHIS90,

I agree that Dove chocolate is excellent. I've come to believe that the reason people over eat chocolate is because today's chocolate has no flavor. You feel deprived, so you have to eat more to feel sated. If you were to pay for better quality chocolate, you would not feel deprived. And better, you'd only need 2-3 squared to be satisfied. The higher percentage of cocoa in the bar means a higher percentage of flavor.

Dove chocolate is really good, so it Lindt. Buy them on sale. You might also try Green and Black organic chocolate. it's pricey, but excellent.

La Maison Du Chocolat allows you to order online. They have incredibly good chocolate. You can pick up a box in person if you live in Paris or NYC too! emoticon

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

I am a big fan of the Dove Dark choco squares - they definitely have the "melt in your mouth" factor so one squaure goes a long way. They also have the seasonal "pepperming bark" flavor that I highly recommend

Here in the west, some of the best chocolates are See's Candies. I know they don't have stores in the east, but they do ship from on-line purchases.

Just bought some the other day and they are (as always) delicious!

LOL, I make better home made chocolates then our local chocolate store that touts all of their "homemade" stuff.

If you are willing to put in the effort you can get exactly what you want made with quality ingredients.

I've made coconut bon-bons, almond toffee, peanut butter truffles and both white and chocolate divinity so far this season either for potlucks or as gifts. And even if I do say so myself, it's better then anything out there that I could buy.

Edited to add: Candy making is a lot easier than you might think. All you need is a good heavy pan, a candy thermometer, good ingredients and a recipe!

Go to a local chocolatier and get the good stuff!

If I were going to indulge, I would either do that and buy truffles or look for a boutique with single-origin chocolate bars.

Mass-market chocolates are not worth the calories.

I like Lindt truffles. Smooth and silky and very rich. I let them melt in my mouth and they are fabulous. I'm a huge chocoholic and 2 of these satisfy my chocolate cravings.

They come in a variety of flavors and can be found almost everywhere. Sometimes even on sale!

I am limiting my purchase of Christmas candy this year and would like to buy a small amount of a good quality chocolate, both dark and milk. Does anyone know of any brand where the melt in your mouth cocoa taste is present, such as with the old fashioned chocolates and not waxy and nearly tasteless.
