Definitely eating better. I feel so much better and have so much more energy! Who knew just eating a little bit more protein could make such a difference.

For me, on this journey, it has been giving up booze. Over the last year, I stopped exercising, started working from home and moved to an area that had cheap booze. Hubby and I started enjoying a couple glasses of wine each night. In mid October I stopped the mindless drinking and went back to water. I immediately dropped 20 lbs. Now, when I have a single drink it stalls my weight loss.

Starting at 535, 168 pounds down, I moved from a wheel chair, to walker, to cane. Freedom from the limitations, I visualize daily what the next 150 loss will bring. Moving to SP 74 days ago is the smartest choice I ever made. I am no longer alone. I am grateful for you all.

What has changed my life the most for the better is when I asked Jesus Christ to bethe Lord and Savior of my life, and I was completely transformed into a new person. I dont live to eat now I eat to live. I dont think or see things the same way, I dont live for myself. I live to please the One I love and life is full of peace, joy and His love. And His directions are all good and good for me.

Ha! Not being married definitely works best for me. I no longer even live with my male companion and we get along much better. In most of the world a woman cannot have her own life and I cherish my ability to do just that.

Living nicotine free was the highest and biggest gift I have achieved. It surpasses even the masters degree from long ago. My service work and dedication to nicotine-anonymous.org over the last 16 years certainly has improved my life in an ongoing basis.

Third is the ability to make relationships that are loving rich and letting go of any that are damaging. Coming from a dysfunctional family, I learned to have a high tolerance for disturbing imbalances. Part of the benefits of working on myself over the decades (which include involvement in my NicA program fellowship) is that I got happier and healthier along the way!
Hence, here I am on maintenance weight, wishing you all a Happy 2014 NEW YEAR emoticon

Getting my education and Sparkpeople. Both these made me realize that things take time and if you have a plan -- you can make your goals. Over time everything must be adjusted and if you believe in yourself you can do it. Also the easiest way to change your life if to change your attitude. Learn to approach things from different perspectives. I am still learning and it is wonderful to know that you can do that at any age.

Exercise is the most important thing but eating much better by controlling my portions, not dwelling in the negative and avoiding negative people. Being kinder to myself, and framing situations for the positive~

Two changes improved my life dramatically. The first was stopping smoking after 30 or so years and the other was taking up swimming. I regularly swim a mile in the local pool four times a week. I feel healthier now than I did at 20.

Taking classes daily at the gym... having an established class routine is like going to work.... you just do it. I find if I have a bad eating day that getting back on track is easier and quicker if you start your day with a good work-out.

My connection with Spark People and the teams I converse with. Using smaller plates. Drinking lots of water, often flavored with crystal light. Walking; other types of exercises. One of the big ones is making over my thought pattern that I deserve to take care of myself.

Thanks to Spark people and me following for my own benefit I become more aware of what do I do to improve my health. I know more what to eat and what to avoid . I learn what foods are good for me and also what do I do for my body to be fit. I try different exercises to see what can I do without causing my body to fill more pain and to keep my back from getting worst. I am following Spark Guy's suggestion , do a little every day. It really is working for me now. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I started a month ago , but I didn't go nowhere.
Why? I am finding everything I do tiresome and very difficult. I am trying to continue and get somewhere with my fight for a better life. My health has been going down in the last 5 years. I am 73 and recently I am experiencing quite a bit of pain with this injury of a sciatic nerve. Of course that has nothing to do with my continued to eat things are not beneficial for me. I believe depression is the cause of wanting more sweets, is my weakne

Oatmeal in the morning! Every morning. A little exercise and a little oatmeal and my cholesterol is finally down in the normal range.

Everyday in every way I'm getting better and better. -- former Chief Inspector Dreyfus

Eating less helped me lose weight so I am able to be more active.
Being more active (becoming a runner for the first time in my life) helps me keep the weight off and eat reasonably.

Food Tracking + Exercise = winning combination for better health!
