I always wash jeans in cold water and hang to dry. I don't care what anyone says about preshrunk jeans. I have a super hard time finding jeans that are long enough (I'm a 6' tall woman with a 35" inseam) and that fit my comfortably as I'm low-waisted. So, I can't afford to lose even the centimeters that a dryer can shrink from the length of a pair of jeans. I also hang almost all of my shirts to ensure the arms stay the proper length. I've had someone try to "help" with my laundry and throw everything in the dryer together. I lost 5 articles of clothing due to their "help" from a single load. Pants were too short, sleeves were too short, the shirt itself was too short, whatever. I can't afford to buy new clothes because they shrink. It's easier just to hang them up to start with.

Depends on the Jeans- check labels/tags- 100% cotton that are Not preshrunk, Will do better hung dry, Yes they will shrink in the dryer, be sure to wash in Cold water!
Preshrunk cotton or blends do ok in the dryer on medium heat, they will restretch when you wear them.
Stretch jeans do ok in dryer on medium heat-will restretch when wearing.
I wash all my jeans in Cold water extra rinse-its the detergent that is Not rinsed out in a single rinse cycle that will damage the fabric!

I think it depends on how much stretch the denim has in it to begin with. I throw mine in the dryer just long enough to get rid of that stiff feeling (about 5-10 minutes), and then I line dry from there. I think they last longer that way, and with the trouble I have finding a good fit, the extra time is worth it. I don't like how they loosen up after a few hours....I find myself pulling them up as the day goes on.

So far.....hung jeans fit okay but a bit loose in the butt, dryer dried jeans fit okay as well but form fit my butt.
Verdict: GF likes me to dryer dry my jeans.

I prefer using the dryer, I think they are too stiff when hung out to dry. They might feel temporarily tighter from the dryer, but they loosen up very quickly.

I like washing them with a lot of fabric softener and drying them in a cool dryer. They come out pliable and comfy.

You know, if it feels like it makes a noticeable difference in the fit...your jeans might be too tight.

I am not a fan of the crunchy feeling of line dried jeans

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

Hmmm...I have spent a good portion of my life living in places where clothes are washed by hand and hung to dry.

I never noticed any difference in fit, but I have to say that I am not a fan of the crunchy-jeans feeling.

Hanging them to dry will certainly extend the life of the garment though.

Well, that depends....if they are snug when you wash them, then putting them in the dryer will make them even tighter. But, sometimes that's a good thing because if they are too loose to begin with, the dryer will help. Also, I like to hang a lot of my clothes because they look better (and last longer) to me.

I don't especially enjoy hanging them though, much easier to throw everything in the dryer..... emoticon
