I keep my house free of junk food in general...if its not there you can't eat it. If I do crave something I shouldn't be eating, I go out and get it. Usually the way the food taste in my mouth afterwards leaves a greasy or after taste. I don't have to worry about eating it now!! I also tell my friends if you get it to go, 99% of the time you won't get back in your car to get more (I can't remember ever doing this anyway) . I also do the wait 5 minute rule. I usually forgot about it.

You all are doing so great with cutting the crap food out of your lives. It gets easier the longer you avoid eating it.
Then when you do eat it, it doesn't taste as good as what you remember. And if you are like me, your digestive system isn't very happy with you after eating it. I really do believe that is our bodies way of giving us a wakeup call.
As for the kids, a little junk once in a while isn't going to hurt them, or for that matter us.

I have not eaten any fast food for a couple of months, and that was only because I was out, and didn't have anything to pack to take with me from home. As for junk food, that is a little harder, with 4 kids at home, but I only give in to a small handful every now and then.

I like all the good ideas, especially the idea about single servings. Isn't it something about how now only does our taste buds change, but how our bodies even react differently to processed food? Do you think our bodies are trying to tell us something?
all my boyfriend wants to do on the weekend is go to fast food restaurants and order and order and order I just take a health food grilled veggie and grilled chicken wrap

When travelling, I'll occasionally grab a burger, but I usually pre-plan to at least have an apple to eat with it or other fruit. Chips and such are not kept in my home, but I will have the occasional one when out - they are generally too salty for me these days. I used to do a lot of 100 calorie packs of these things but as I changed to get more fruits and veggies, they kind of naturally worked their way out of my diet. I still use 100 calorie bags of microwave popcorn (I did ask for an air popper for Christmas though, so I may be giving up on that as well). In the last 6 months or so, candy is not something that I want anymore, but I still love cookies, cakes, etc. I make something sweet part of my day to kill binges. I prefer quality over quantity, but I'm pretty sure that I still wouldn't be able to stop myself from inhaling a package of those elf-shaped Keebler sandwich cookies, so they don't get bought.

I still have a slice of pizza about once every two months, but other than that, no I don't really miss it. Not enough to bother me, anyway. There are times I miss how convenient it used to be to just eat on the run without all the shopping and prep. But that's not the same as missing the actual food.

My body and my taste buds have gotten used to healthy food. Just the thought of eating greasy fast food or junk is a little nauseating. I might eat sweets now and then but it takes only a little to satisfy me.

Congratulations to all of you! It is such a sweet victory to get off the crap food and on to real food.
I quit fast food almost 10 years ago and can't stand the stuff anymore. Once in a while when we are traveling ( 9 hour drive to family if we don't stop for long) I might get a kids burger or something, but I usually feel icky afterwards. I'd rather pack my own food or go hungry.
For those of you who are trying to get off the fast food/junk food I can offer a few suggestions that worked for me:
Pack your breakfast and lunch the night before. Have cold things in the front of the fridge where you can grab'em and go.
Keep a stash of healthy foods at work and in the car for when you are starving and out of food. Keep the same things ready for your kids so there is no whining about starving on the way home.
Save your fast food money and treat yourself to a nice new pair of shoes, clothes, books or movie and refer to it as your no fast food reward! $8 dollars a day on fast food is $40 a week. It adds up fast. Especially if you are buying for more than 1 person.
Reduce and stop buying junk foods. If you want cookies make a half batch at home. If you really want chips buy a single serving.

fast food - not a problem. I haven't eaten it in years and just the thought (or smell) makes me turn green.
I still occasionally want chips of some sort. And I still love pizza, but I'm satisfied with my healthier versions. I love fries, but now I bake them on a pizza stone.
I don't think there is a cure for my sweet tooth I've done 'no sugar' challenges for Lent or for a month at various times. I still crave sweets. I just make sure those treats fit in my nutrition plan for the day and enjoy in moderation.
I was surprised how little time it took to move from "Ohh I would LOVE that fast-food/junk-food but I SHOULDN'T eat it, I have to stay-strong and just say NO" to "Fast food? Meh, I'll pass, don't really want it anyways."
I went cold-turkey (or, cold pressure-fried-chicken) on fast-food last December, just prior to joining Sparkpeople. I went from having "Chubby Chicken 2-piece dinner with fries" for lunch several times a week (plus assorted runs through other fast-food-drive-thrus) to ZERO fast food. It bothered me for... maybe a couple of weeks, a month tops.
I figure if i actually sat down to eat one of those chicken meals today, it would make me physically ill. You have to build up a tolerance to food like that.
Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE** Goal 2 - leave obesity behind (BMI 29.9, at 185#) **DONE** Goal 3 - BMI = Normal (154# or less)

Happy days are here! I just don't want fast food or junk food any more! I can wait until I get real food! I never thought I could feel this way! How about you? Do you prefer healthy food now? When did your taste change?
