I think you have been "taken", but you aren't the only one, my daughter in law was too, to the tune of over $500, before she saw a doctor, she has thyroid problems.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

Rogaine may work, it has a lot of side affects. You also have to use it the rest of your life. If you do purchase it, please talk to your doctor before you start.

There is also a shampoo for people with medical issues called Nioxin. Also please talk to your doctor about this too.

And then speaking to your doctor. He/ she may have some recommendations.

The only product that has been tested and proven is Rogaine. In the states it is available over the counter. It's expensive and you have to keep using it or you lose the hair you regrew.

The shampoos and treatments that are supposed to encourage hair growth really don't work. Some contain products that make your hair look fuller which can make you feel better but don't encourage hair growth.

With your medical problems I would suggest talking to your doctor. There are reversible conditions that cause hair loss.

Hair is a Huge business...billions of dollars are spent every year on research, treatment etc. If they find a CURE for any type of hair loss it will be shouted from the roof tops.

The scalp treatment won't work, they never have. The only thing they make fuller is your stylist's wallet.

If you're looking for a product that "might" help regrow hair, you need a product like ROGAINE.

I don't know if that's available in Malaysia or not. Rogaine was made an over the counter product in the US several years ago. There is good evidence that it has helped people regrow their hair. The one drawback ? you have to keep using the product. If you stop using it, any hair you grow, will fall out.

The cheap solution for women to have nice hair is to wear a wig. If you don't want to wear a wig, another possible solution would be hair extensions. Not all hair extensions need to be applied at a beauty salon, some are clip ons.

Example

rds=hair+extensions

So, there are lots of different options for a woman with thinning hair to make it fuller. Yes, you could try Rogaine, but you might ask your stylist about hair extensions. I'm a little surprized they haven't already suggested them. But, maybe they think they can get more money out of you by suggesting the scalp treatment.

I'm really sorry to hear about your health issues - topping it off with hair thinning/loss never makes things any better.

My mom was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease several years ago, and has suffered since that time with a lot of hair loss, although it only recently caught up with her when she turned 50. She has been using tea tree oil on her scalp in places where she's noticed the loss, and has seen a lot of regrowth - her stylist even commented that it is coming back. Of course, there are also shampoos and conditioners that contain tea tree oil - I use the Shikai brand and like it a lot.

I have also heard - but have no direct experience to back it up - that coconut oil can be good for hair growth, not to mention it makes the hair shiny and healthy-looking.

You can find both tea tree oil and coconut oil at any health food store or vitamin shop, and it is certainly a lot less expensive than salon treatments that may or may not work. I wish you luck!

Hi, sorry about that - you were worried about that a few months ago but weren't sure whether it was really thinning or not.
It seems as if there are all sorts of reasons why hair might go thin. You've got some serious health issues that might be causing that. I hate to say this but you might have just wasted a load of money - but I do hope that you haven't and that the treatment works well for you.

I don't think that's going to work. I think your hair is probably thinning due to your health problems.

I think your stylist should try to give you a haircut to make your hair appear more full. That could work but not the scalp treatments.

You don't have to eat the whole thing.

Hi, I'm in my early 40s and I've got thinning hair!

My new stylist says that I should get a scalp treatment package to arrest the problem. I had my first treatment today. I signed up for 4, so we'll see how it goes after the 4th treatment. If I see no difference, I won't be purchasing another 4 treatments.

He said he has to cleanse & stimulate my scalp to make my hair grow faster and stop excessive hair loss.

What do you think? Do you think I've been taken in?
