Won't be any different that any other time. One kid can't come home from college due to work schedule, so won't really be any different.

The time between Thanksgiving and Christmas is short this year. That can make life interesting. But my big thing will be our wedding anniversary, Dec. 9th.

41 years!

I plan to follow the exercise plan I made for the whole month of December (Walk Away the Pounds, based on the tweets Leslie has sent out for the last 2 months). I also plan to keep calorie cycling. I "lucked out" & a high calorie day landed on Thanksgiving! emoticon
I'm most sure how Christmas will fall.

I am from the Caribbean so we do not celebrate Thanksgiving. So its now to New Years. I have no parties to attend but there is food around at my mom's house and at my in-laws. I love sorrel, ginger beer and black cake aka. fruit cake. Besides the candy and chocolates.
I have decided to continue to exercise at least 6 days a week, using a combination of the gym (until they close), and videos (jillian michaels and leslie sansome from youtube).
My watch word is CONSISTENCY so one day at a time. My goal is to lose weight this year for the first time. Focus is key!!!

My plans during this time: Got to work to pay my taxes, will attend my son's College Graduation ( emoticon ), will celebrate Christmas with my two kids, celebrate my daughter's 24th Birthday, and welcome in the New Year.

My plans to stay on track while still working to lose an additional 10 pounds or so and keep up my exercise plans: drink lots of water, still eat 5 mini-meals a day and plan carefully for parties and special foods by exercising a bit more and planning ahead!

Happy Thanksgiving Spark People! emoticon

I've upped my workouts this week to account for the extra calories on Thursday. I usually rotate between ski machine then aerobics then jogging. This week I'm doing just the ski machine as that is the hardest workout.

My plan is to track meals as I normally would and plan for any thing I want to eat.And continue my workouts. Increase exercise the week of the holiday.

I also plan to only eat what I truly like, not all of the stuff I used to eat just because it's there and I felt like I had to try some.

I plan to keep up with my workouts (and try to add even more movement during the day). I will avoid the crap food that will be floating around the office (the more I say it, the more likely I'll follow through) and I will continue to eat my giant salads. I don't have any parties aside from family stuff so that will remove a huge amount of temptation.

I'm planning on eating what I want on the holidays and a few days in between. I will stay on track for most of December, but I really want to enjoy the holidays with my family and eat the "special" foods that I can only get once a year. I'm hoping to get through the season with only a little gain, but I'm okay with a couple of pounds.

I also preemptively joined the gym last week. New exercise on all the days I am on plan should help even out the off-plan days. Otherwise I am going to keep drinking my water, track my food and enjoy it all without feeling guilty (TRYING to not feel guilty, anyway lol)

Do not allow even one pound extra to remain on my body for over one day. It isn't hard to lose if you do it immediately upon seeing a new pound on the scale.

Food is fuel, it is NOT a celebration.
Food is not "fun", it is only fuel.
Food is not "love" - it is only fuel.

I have maintained my goal weight (actually, a little BELOW it, to have wiggle room for unavoidable bad foods) for 14 months today!.

We try to make healthier foods.... fresh green beans with onions sauteed in a tbsp of olive oil, fresh green salad etc. I still have some of everything, I just try to limit the portion sizes. I want to enjoy the hoilday's without constantly stressing over calories in vs. calories out!

Make exercise a priority and get in a minimum of 4 days a week. No matter what! Whether it's 20 minutes or an hour.
Keeping in mind what's good to eat and when. Keeping up with tracking my nutrition. Make sure I only eat on a salad size plate. And be mindful when I go out to eat to only have entree salad and/or soup. It will definitely satisfy me, tried it before. That way I can make room to share a dessert with my husband ;-)
I have two birthdays plus Christmas in December too (one of them being my own birthday!) and I'd like to lose at least 8lbs before my birthday. Then if I can muster off another 2-4 by New Years.. success!

track daily
make exercise a priority
be extra careful of my food most days so I can enjoy treats on the days that matter
bake to share with others, instead of eating it all myself

my main goal is to NOT STRESS TOO MUCH about the scale in December. We have two birthdays plus Christmas . . . I want to be careful but I also don't want my life to revolve around those numbers.

tracking and exercise everyday as usual except during a 2 week vacation at Christmas to visit my Grandkids. I won't have much say over meals, not much computer access and no way to weight food. I will watch my portions and still exercise everyday.

Tracking food and exercise just like any other time of year. Only eat untracked on actual holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve). If you stick to your plan, you will be glad. If you don't you will kick yourself.

I've been mulling over Thanksgiving dinner a lot. My DH's weight is at goal, so he's not a problem. I'm thinking turkey breast with mashed potatoes made with very little butter, and broth instead of gravy on top. I have fresh brussel sprouts that will be easy to keep light and a small serving of homemade cranberry relish. No rolls with butter. A small serving of dressing. I'm making a pie I can't eat (allergies). I'll also make a relish tray with colorful fresh vegetables to crunch: carrots, radishes, celery and olives. My son loves southern green beans, meaning bacon and onion cooked in, but I'll pass on those.

I love turkey. I plan to enjoy a lot of that. When my sister was young, she had braces put on her teeth the day before Thanksgiving. She was in so much pain, she couldn't eat. I'll try to keep that in mind if I start feeling sorry for myself.

Also, I'm adding 20 minutes to each of my workouts this week to compensate for no gym time on Thursday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Family Christmas. My sister is coming to visit from Birmingham, Alabama so that will be special. We'll go for manicures, then to my daughter's for Christmas Day. She'll spend some time with my son. And I'll take HER for Carvel, which she dearly loves and they don't have in Birmingham. I shall try really hard to stay in bounds on food.

i think you need to remember that the purpose of the holidays are to celebrate and spend time with family. so if the holidays are truly special, there should be one day sort of dishes that eating some of shouldn't be an issue. if you go over once, twice, three times a year it's likely not enough to throw what you do everyday out of balance. but if thanksgiving marks the six weeks of aunt ida's famous casserole, you have to adjust your expectations. which means if it's there every day, it's not a special food. and if it's not a special food you need to make it one [ie only eat it on a day or two] or you need to really adjust your portion size or the recipe to make it an everyday sort of food. and stock your fridge based on your anticipated leftovers. so if your family has a cheese casserole that you know you'll be taking home [and your efforts to add a half head of broccoli or cauliflower to it fell flat with the rest of the family], make sure you have some broccoli or cauliflower that you can steam and mix in with a portion. have containers and wrappings ready so that you can freeze some things like turkey in individual portions. peruse the internet for some less than traditional ways to use up your leftovers [turkey chili anyone?] so that you're not getting sick of leftovers and ordering in pizza.

-google first. ask questions later.

yes my plan of attack is to keep on with weight lifting, core class and running on my treadmill. Also keep on with my clean eating. Watching out for Christmas goodies........won't have any around but I do make peanut brittle to give a way so I watch out for that.........usually not a big deal.

In years when I was stricter, I ate, off plan, on the day of the holiday, and one day after, and between Christmas Eve and New Years Day. Began strict stuff Jan. 2. If I didn't take some time off, the whole month of January became a free for all!! But you have to taylor your eating to yourself, Thanksgiving is not so bad, turkey is good for you, lol. Christmas is the hardest, particularly if you are the one baking and cooking, and everyone looks to you for fun snacks.

I plan to keep up with my workouts, eat lots of vegetables and fruits--- in other words, business as usual. And yes, I'll be having some seasonal treats too!

Yes. I'm in maintenance, so I allow myself Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eve "free-eating" days. I have as much as I want of whatever I want. But every single other day I track very carefully. It's worked well for several years now.

How will you stay on track during the holidays? Do you have a plan of attack? Please share.

The only "diet" that works is consistency!
