tracking food, water, doing the SP videos and later when i heard about them, Leslie Sansone. Joining the 5% challenge, blogging, reading articles daily. I lost 30 pounds in the first 3 months and have pretty much maintained it though i have a ways to go (Plateau!). I lost more low carbing (Atkins) but gained it all back when i could no longer afford the meats and bars (I craved them), etc.

No soda! I am blessed with the ability to quit things cold turkey and that's what I did! It's been almost 4 years without a sip! It made such a huge difference. Lately I've had slight cravings for it, but there is not way I'm about to give in! Willpower!

I started tracking every bite I put into my mouth.

Once I saw how many calories were in the cream and sugar on my coffee, I started to reduce that.

Way back when I first started on my journey the first time I started drinking more water. Now it's pretty much the only thing I drink (exceptions-coffee or tea.) Then I cut all my portions in half, no matter what I was eating.

I started with three things in this order:

I took back my control, and started taking accountability for my weight issue
Stopped coke (drink 8 cups of water instead)
Started to move 10 minutes daily no exception (I am now more active overall)

I am losing about 2 lbs a week on average slow and steady.

Luckily, we never drank sodas at all, but I changed to only black coffee, non of those creamer junk things, that made the difference of 5 lbs off the first month. Fat free milk, and only 4 servings of starch a day helped the most. Upped the protein serving size. That's it at the beginning.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

the first thing I change was drinking more water, unsweetened tea instead of sodas,whether it say sugar free , or no salt added I was cutting it out of my diet. I notice a change within two weeks when I stop drinking sodas,

i found the times i didnt track was the times my weight stayed the same or upped -- if i tracked i lost and drank water

My thinking/attitude. When I set out to do something I tend to be a perfectionist...I'm still learning to let that go because I WILL screw up sometimes. Sometimes I WILL FAIL to do my exercises or I WILL FAIL to eat perfectly right for the day...I have to accept that I'm human and slipping doesn't make me a failure.

You can scream, yell, shout, cry, whimper, grunt, bleed, puke and pass out. JUST DON'T QUIT!

Eliminate wheat in form of cereal ,bread ,muffins ,bagels etc for six weeks and notice the difference in body weight.

I changed the way I looked at my health, my body and the state of mind that I was in. I realized that I was more than the size on the back of my jeans, but that the amazing body I was given was not being able to be used at the 100 percent it could.

I had to start saying no to offers to eat out with co-workers, no to donuts, no to desserts they brought in and focus on what I could cook that was healthy and tasted good. I also had to find better snacks to have. I found a lot of recipes to help me lose weight in a cookbook called Fix It and Forget It Lightly. Crockpot recipes with lean meat and lots of veggies seasoned well. They gave me portion sizes to measure out, were filling and tasted good! Thats the first thing I changed and weight loss began to follow. emoticon
