Mt pet peeve is when someone (a friend, relative) says to me when we are at a luncheon, out to dinner, buffet, etc., is that all your having? I never ate a lot at one sitting since I can remember. I eat comfortably for me. People then ask if I am dieting, something I never talk about. I want to lose 15 pounds but I don't want to discuss it. So to me diet support is not to make a comment on what I eat or don't eat. I feel being judged when they ask and I feel funny saying I have a small stomach when I am overweight. The comment makes me uncomfortable.

I never expected "help" from anyone, it's a personal thing, and the 6 times that I've lost a lot of weight, it was me saying "NO", didn't matter where I went or who cooked what. Something deep inside of you has to "click". Unfortunately, it never stayed "clicked"...............another person cannot change your mind or attitude about eating or not eating, in fact, you might resent them, whether they tempt you to eat or keep on nagging you. Nagging never helped anyone!!! Support from within is always with you, day and night, and especially when you are "alone".
Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.
I pretty much do those things for friends/family trying to lose weight. If they tell me something else that would help, I'll do my best to do that too (unless it's some crazy fad)
my mom is the worst as far as food goes. She always says she wishes my DH would lose weight (strictly for health reasons), but she'll make him a very decadent butter pecan cheesecake for every family dinner.
some people define support as BACK ME UP. but a lot of time ... that back up ... is a moving target; Sometimes it depends on your mood. So...when you share your desire to lose weight and tell your close friend, How do you expect them to HELP you.
