Yes, apples cause my stomach to churn unless I eat something else with them.

Any sugary fruits do this to me. Adding fat (such as nut butters or cheese) will help satisfy the crave... for some, protein is the key. But the fruit alone is very likely for most people to do exactly what it does to you!

Not a huge apple fan but the fiber in the apple blunts the effect of the sugar in apples and other types of fruit (for me) and so I feel no need to add protein to an apple. It doesn't make me hungry or spike my insulin levels.

Moving in new directions.

I definitely agree with the suggestions to pair the apple with some protein. I definitely know that helps a lot.

Unfortunately, I still have to be careful. I LOVE apple slices with peanut butter, and I can easily overdo it. The sweet/salty/savory combo is just AMAZING. I also like mixing the peanut butter with some Greek yogurt and a bit of sweetener (honey and maple syrup are my go-to options). It makes this fluffy, creamy fruit dip that's great with apples and strawberries. (I served an almond butter version made with Chobani Vanilla at a party once.)

I have heard of this happening. I always eat cheddar cheese with my apple to keep it from happening

I find apples VERY filling--I don't experience this at all. Apples vary a lot in terms of where they are on the glycemic index though--they can be anywhere from a 28 to a 44.

Perhaps you should try a tarter heirloom variety with more flavor and less sugar.

They are full of sugar! I have an apple every day at 3pm with 11 walnut halves and it decreases my appetite at dinner. I do alternate between walnuts and almonds.

I can totally relate. I love apples, but when I eat an apple by itself for a snack, I get ravenously hungry shortly after I eat it. I need some cheese or nuts to go with it.

My taste buds are very sensitive and I can't eat certain fruits cause it makes my jaws hurt and mouth over water...from intense flavor. I can't eat most apples because of this but I found a new love....Honey crisp apples!!! my favorite!

Thanks to all of you for responding, and glad to know I am not the only one.
I am all about protein, I aim for 70 or more grams a day. In the form mostly of chicken, tuna, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, beans and then peanut butter.
I almost always add peanut butter when I enjoy apple slices as a snack, but lately I have just been crunching down on the honey crisp apples by themselves, so now I understand, no more single apple action, lol.
Much thanks to all.

Yes! This happens more with apples than any other fruit, too - a real mystery!

Oh SOFT_VAL67 I'm glad I'm not the only one that notices this, but I noticed it mostly when ever I eat any carb food that I have not added protein to. When I was grazing through out the day, I thought I was eating "good for you foods" but would find I would be even hungrier. This is when I learned about eating a full meal instead of eating stuff all day long. For me it was breakfast...cereal, I would be starving just an hour or two later! I just didn't understand. Than I started eating a high protein breakfast instead and would stay satisfied till lunch time.

I would suggest eating some protein along with the apple and that should do the trick. Normally I eat fruit after I exercise due to the glycemic levels that I need to bring back up after rigorous exercise. My practice is to always have protein at the same time as a good carb such as fruit.

I don't have a particular issue with apples causing excessive eating. And sometimes I do eat them with some peanut butter or mixed into Greek yogurt with granola.

Apples are actually satisfying to me as a snack on their own, but they're awesome with peanut butter or sliced cheese too.

add some peanut butter or cheese to your apple snack

I don't have that problem with apples, but I do with bananas. Now I always eat a tablespoon of peanut butter with my banana

Apples are my favorite fruit. I'm not usually hungry after eating them but you might try adding some cheese or peanut butter when you have one.

The fructose in apples is a form of sugar. When you eat it your insulin spikes to handle it, then it drops and you will feel hungry. If you want food to last more than a brief period, it will have to be protein or fatty

Can anyone relate??
Every time, every single time I eat an apple, any kind of apple, I get so so hungry.
Could it be that they have natural sugar that elevates my blood sugar ?
That is my theory.
Does anyone else experience this?
I love an apple, but the only way I can eat one is to cook it.
Or else an hour later I am starving.
