I watched a great show on PBS a few months back-can't remember the name, but it was a British doctor who researched the science behind exercise, health, & weight loss. He found out that for his body type, NEAT made a bigger impact on his own health and weight than intentional exercise did. He discovered his body doesn't respond well to vigorous workouts that most of us associate with getting in shape & losing weight. Rather for him, changing his daily activities so that he walked more, took stairs instead of escalators, and that kind of thing, had a more noticable & postive impact.
I definitely think NEAT helps-it's the way I motivate myself to not mind doing chores around the house or not being able to park up front!

Have you heard of it before? I hadn't but I think it's really cool. Apparently NEAT is responsible for things like fidgeting, feet tapping, frequent hand moving and changing positions. You can burn several hundred calories a day without even thinking about it!
