I'm going to try the "lighter touch". I was thinking it was the time, but if that's the case, there must be a very short window. I'll have to test it out more tomorrow. Thanks for your help.

I'm just guessing here, but my bet would be that it has a second or two of memory so you can get the weight back if you turn it back on right away. Another possibility is that you have to push the "on/off" button very lightly to get the weight back, and a normal push resets it.

Have you tried playing with it to see if there's any pattern to when you get the weight versus the reset?

There is a distinct possibility you need new batteries in your scale. That is what happened to mine....started fading out for no reason. I also goggled my scale manufacturer and went to the site for help.

I have a food scale I have used every day for many years. But, this is something I have never been to figure out. There is an "on" button and a "zero" button. When I put a plate on the scale I push the zero button, and the display shows zero oz. I add food and the display shows the weight. If I leave it idle with the plate of food on it, it turns off after a few minutes. Now, here's the question. If I turn it back on with the plate still on it, sometimes it shows the weight of the food as before it turned off, but sometimes it goes back to zero. I can't figure out what I do to get it to give me the weight instead of the zero. If that makes any sense, do you know the answer?
