Yes, chocolate candy will ward off the broccoli eaters. However, I discovered two years ago that I had no chocolate, so I used a gummy worm chain around my neck. Wrong move! Avocado eaters bombarded our house, coming even from other towns.
I shall always remember this little ditty that the Northeast Witch of the Western Slope taught me:
"If you are going to wear candy around your neck, First be sure to do a Google check."
Have a great Halloween, everyone!
"If any thing is sacred the human body is sacred...Have you seen the fool that corrupted his own live body? or the fool that corrupted her own live body? " -- Whitman
“Trust thyself: every heart vibrates to that iron string.” -- Emerson
"It's not what you look at that matters, it's what you see." -- Thoreau
Not only will it ward off Halloween candy, but many other things, people and animals too (although our javelinas here in AZ do happen to like the stuff, as do the flies). It won't ward off vampires, though -- as we all know, garlic is the only thing that does that.
Good idea with the chocolate bar -- anything to keep those pesky broccoli seekers from showing up!
Enjoy the spirit (or spirits if that be the case)!
ps - couldn't tell if this was a mushroom or one stalk of broccoli -- it could be either (especially if the broccoli were cooked -- it's that kind of ugly green).

Thanks for that. I finished up the broccoli last night, but I've still got the stalk for if I make soup. Will just the stalk work or does it have to be the whole broccoli head? Should it be cooked broccoli or will raw broccoli work just as well?
