Why are you writing copy and THEN finding out if you can send it? All you have to do is click on the person's SparkPage link and it will immediately tell you if it's set to private. You should be doing that anyway, to find out a little information about the individual you're writing to so you don't accidentally say something hurtful or offensive.

Guys can encounter problems, too. Maybe not the thigh-high-boot-guy problem, but problems nonetheless....

It's a risk you take when being open with and accepting of complete strangers. MOST people are reasonable. But there's always a few that are... uhm. Well let's put it this way, I fully understand why a lot of people (female and male) choose to take advantage of the privacy settings. Once you've had an encounter with "the ugly side of the internet community" - it's reasonable to become a bit more circumspect in how much you are willing to put out there.

Goal 1 - break 200 (46 pounds lost)**DONE**
Goal 2 - leave obesity behind (BMI 29.9, at 185#) **DONE**
Goal 3 - BMI = Normal (154# or less)

I can give you a reason why! Because the last two times I accepted a random friend-request from a random guy... it was immediately followed by Extreme Weirdness. First one wrote me a sparkmail saying that a great motivator for me to lose weight would be to think how great I would look in thigh high leather boots........ and the second one introduced himself with basically, "hi, i'm X and i'm in great shape (blahblahblah) would you like to be my gf." OH PLEASE.

GUYS? Just DON'T. These sorts of propositions should never come in the INTRODUCTORY message..... *grumble*

@Dave: I've got an idea; finish your profile page. Writing more about yourself on your spark page will give folks more a sense of connection. Women, especially, won't likely friend a man with little to no information on their page, why? IDK but that has been my experience.

Where are you from? I'm from Pennsylvania. What do you do? I am a teacher. Are you married? I am recently divorced. etc.....people like to know those things and you could put them up without fear of someone tracking you down to stalk you, lol (sorta).
