Having a plateau is really hard emotionally. First, always keep a journal, with the same amount of calories daily to stick to your goal weight. Don't try to eat out any, cause they use hidden fats, salts, and sugar. Even on the healthiest thing on the menu. Drink at least 8 glasses of water, other wise you will get retention. And learn to not sale your foods as heavily.
In the Belly diet book, they suggested eating Omega's at every meal to get rid of belly fat. here are some of them: only 1 hand full of almond daily, 1 tab. of ground flax, 1 tab. olive oil, salmon, ect. Also don't put any liquids in your mouth that have calories, other than skim milk. I hope this helps you. But the stomach is the last place that will get slim, until you really get down. Just remember calories in must equal expenditure out/exercising to deplete those intake calories. Plus watch out for drinks that have calories, they really add up too.

The belly is that last thing we lose, said drs. and trainers. Keep it up! Working out 5 days a week and sticking to food tracking is the way to go - I'm positive. Good luck!

The goal is to have a healthy lifestyle, inside and out. So, whatever that means to you keep in mind that the weight is never the issue, it's the symptom of other issues. So, maybe take the focus off of trying to loose the weight and try to learn to be with what's really happening, cause, in the long run your still the same person no what the scale says.

Carbs and sugar DO matter, but you can certainly do well on your diet and consume some sugar. It makes more of a difference for some people than for others.

These things are not always entirely black-and-white.

Dances: salsa (standard/LA), casino, rueda de casino, cumbia Colombiana, bachata, mambo, cha-cha-chá, merengue, reggaetón.

Currently learning: Mexican cumbia, danzón, Cuban rumba

Dances to Learn in the future: flamenco, tango Argentino, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, ballroom rumba

You can track your own food intake and note everything you eat, and drink, including condiments! It'll give you a big picture of what, when and why. Don't forget to drink water as it has helped me through many days of wanting to snack or drink the wrong things. It takes 20 minutes for your stomach to register that it is full. Don't eat until you're full, eat until you're satisfied. Everything does not work for everybody! Find your place in the sun! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Christina, not so much mislead you as it's outdated information.
Back in the old days we were told sugar is the most evil thing you could consume. The diet equivalent of being possessed by Satan.
Now we know that sugar in moderation, as part of a healthy diet is ok. The occasional cookie etc is not going to ruin your weight loss efforts. The whole batch of cookies on the other hand emoticon

Over the years we have been told the same thing about meat, fat, carbs, bread, artificial sweeteners and colorings, gluten, fish (OMG, the mercury!) There is always going to be something that is evil, will make us gain or not lose out belly fab. Which is why choosing to eat a sensible, balanced diet makes more sense than buying into the fad of the month diet.

It's time to make an appt. with a real dietitian, one you see face to face, spell it all out what you have been doing, and she will help figure out an eating plan for YOU, not following some plan you read about or don't ever eat this or that again, nonsense stuff in "real life". That is the only thing that helped my husband and myself.....................and, keep up doing some exercise every day, no matter if you "go off" your diet, whatever that is, make sure to at least keep up the exercise.

Plan for tomorrow, but enjoy the heck out of today.

CHRISTINASOULE - that isn't quite true. Many of us have lost heaps of weight and fat, and still had sugar in our diet, in various forms. Exercise will help to remove fat as will not eating excessively for our individual needs..

If there is sugar in your diet, you will not lose fat. My ideal protein coach taught me that one.

you can't out train a bad diet. You might be eating more than you think. Track all your food. No you don't eat back calories burned. 3500 calories make a pound........you need to burn 500 calories a day to loose a pound. It's about a sensible diet. Whole grains, lean meats, fruits, veggies and dairy. You can do this.......

Eat more filling veggies. Cut junk food out. Stop drinking sodas, even diet sodas. Choose smaller portions. Lean meat. Track your food and drink intake. Everyday. Eat regular meals, don't starve yourself. Keep at it. Best to you, you can do it!

Happiness grows inside me.

I think the key point you made is that you keep going back and forth on diet.

Lo carb? High carb? Diet of the month?

Why not try a sensible diet? Quit playing games with your food. Determine your calorie needs, there are great tools on here. And stay within the allotted calories. Eat high quality foods. Cut the junk foods and fast foods. Eat 8 servings of fruits and vegetables a day. Eat whole grains. Eat lean meats. Cut out processed foods. Eat healthy and you will lose. Including your tummy!

"Good" and "not too bad" don't sound very precise. Are you tracking everything that goes into your mouth?

How many minutes of exercise are you doing 5 days a week?

Dances: salsa (standard/LA), casino, rueda de casino, cumbia Colombiana, bachata, mambo, cha-cha-chá, merengue, reggaetón.

Currently learning: Mexican cumbia, danzón, Cuban rumba

Dances to Learn in the future: flamenco, tango Argentino, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, ballroom rumba

I exercise 5 days a week - pump, zumba, spinning and sometimes insanity. I eat good during the week and not too bad on weekends. Here is my problem I go back and forth in my head about the diet part of this journey. I can't get rid of my belly and I drive my self crazy with calories or carbs, eat back exercise calories or don't eat them back. I heard lo carbs is the way to go to lose your belly. I have 50 more pounds to lose and have been at the same weight for 5 months - I am changing up workouts but I battle every day about diet! Any advise on the diet and or how to break through the plateau. Thanks!!! emoticon
