Go, it is a lot of fun. I remember going years ago. At that hour, the only men in the place were the ones that were dragged in by their woman and everyone was there to have fun. I have only been to a country western bar once and I remember that the atmosphere was different than your regular bar. More couples and groups of people. Not so much of a pickup joint.

You should go and have no regrets -- and a little independence from your BF

Go by yourself - it will feel weird at first - but you're a grown up, you can leave if you're not comfortable - enjoy!

There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

You can take the girl out of London, but - thank goodness - you can't take London out of the girl.

Go by yourself! It sounds like fun. If there are any weird guys trying anything then tell a bartender or waitress and they're usually good at understanding.

Find out why he doesn't want you to go by yourself.

Explain why you really wanted to take line dancing lessons. This is something you want to do and can go by yourself

Made it to my maintenance weight of 125 pounds.

Even though I have reached goal. I still don't know everything about weight loss.

I say go! Have some fun.

I tend to go to bars a lot, and usually go alone (even though I've gained a few, I know some self-defense, and no one really messes with me). Just stay with some gals, stay away from the guys, and you'll be fine. :)

If you lived somewhere in Europe you wouldn't think twice about going to a bar alone.

I say that if it's ok for him to go to a bar without you, you can go to a bar without him. Relationships should have trust! :)

Just go for it- if you get there and it's not for you, you don't have to stay. But if you go and give it a chance- stay for at least a little bit even if you're nervous- you might find that you really enjoy it. And if people see you there a few weeks in a row, they will start to recognize you and you might find some dancing friends. :)

I go to a country bar alone every Tuesday night for the same purpose! There are usually a bunch of women who go. If you can't find a buddy to go with you, then just go and have fun! I've found that there are plenty of other people who go alone and you just have to jump in and try to learn the steps. It is a lot of fun and good exercise! Enjoy!

Your choice not his! Do what you want to do as you are merely going to dance at 6 in the evening. If he was really worried, he would tag along.

You should go alone if you can't find someone to go with. Your boyfriend doesn't want you to go alone because.........us readers may think it's because men will hit on you or that it's not safe for you to go to a bar alone for fear of an attack or harassed or....??.? Give us some more details.

If you work nights and he has a pool league to attend you don't him to go because.......women might hit on him, he could get into a classic pool table bar fight, he might hit on women.....give us some more details on this.

Line dancing is fun! You should and forget all this other crap.

It's totally up to you and how you feel about it.

I'd go and check it out and have fun if there is a nice group there. If nobody comes, well, I'd leave and not return.

Resolved in 2014 to remain below 120!

I would go alone at that time of night. I might be uncomfortable going at 10, but at 6, when the lesson is already scheduled... The big concern is that you might be the only person there!

You're not crazy to be a little hesitant about going to a bar alone, though. If you're not comfortable, can you find a female or platonic male friend to go with you? That's the kind of thing I might do for a coworker if there was a future ride to the airport in it for me!

Do it!

I love to dance and often go alone if necessary. I don't care what the location is.

I don't think that you even need a partner for line dancing...though I can't say for sure since I would rather chew off my own fingers than be trapped in an enclosed space with country music. :)

Dances: salsa (standard/LA), casino, rueda de casino, cumbia Colombiana, bachata, mambo, cha-cha-chá, merengue, reggaetón.

Currently learning: Mexican cumbia, danzón, Cuban rumba

Dances to Learn in the future: flamenco, tango Argentino, samba, belly dancing, bhangra, ballroom rumba

Go and have fun! It's always more scary thinking about it than actually doing it. When you're there, you'll be focused on what you're doing (learning the dance).
I go to concerts alone (my friends aren't into gospel music) and I've never regretted it. Always have been glad I went and met nice people along the way.
Do it!

I say go and have fun. My husband and I do things together regularly but we also have our own interests. I think it's all part of a healthy relationship.

Go! And have fun. The lessons are usually early, before the "bar scene" starts. You will make friends with other singles, learn a new danced and get some exercise.

There is this "country western" bar near me that I've been wanting to go to for a while. On Wed they have line dancing lessons @6pm. I want to go but don't have anyone to go with.

I've never really felt comfortable in a bar. But I REALLY want to go line dancing and this is the only place I know that has lessons...

My bf says he doesn't really like the idea of me going alone (he works Wed. nights). ...but I don't really like HIM going to the bars for his pool league 2x a wk without me(I work nights), but he does it anyway.

What do you think? Should I go anyway???

Getting it together one MOMENT at a time.
