I'm about 3,000 points away from level 20 and I'm looking forward to the break. Maybe I'll want another level after 6 months but I'd like to stop and enjoy my accomplishment once I get there. I've been chasing this for years.

Partially agree with you STRONGERLEANER, but I think the more I will come back the more it helps me to stay on track. And if it only requires as little as gathering points at the same time - I'd say lets do that. The easiest way to gather points is to create new fitness points!

I never said or implied that people at or above 100,000 points were in maintenance. I said achieving 100,00 points was SIMILAR to being in maintenance.

IE: Like being in maintenance.

Maybe I'll explain.

Your points don't correlate with your weight loss. You get them for things you do here, regardless of whether or not you lose weight. The top trophy (goal) is 100,000, although you continue to keep getting points for activities even after you reach this goal.

Once you get to goal weight, you have to keep repeating your habits to stay at that weight. Your new goal is staying there once you get there. You are no longer rewarded with getting to see the number on the scale go down, unless you continue to lose. Instead, you LEARN to keep doing what you were doing, at whatever intensity you need to stay where you want to be. The rewards in maintenance are different even though the process still involves eating well and being active.

Once you get to your goal weight or strength, you can be tempted to slack. Kind of like once people get to 100,000 points for activities, they may want to stop or slow down on those.

I am not against additional trophies/levels. I'm just concerned if too many new levels creates a focus on points rather than health.

It would be nice to have more levels. I have been at the last level for a long time and I looked forward to moving on to the next level. Am I at goal no I have a long ways to go still.

A new level would be lovely. I reached the top level well over 20,000 points ago. And to acknowledge a previous poster, I am NOT currently in maintenance at this level as I regained weight and can't get it back off. I have been struggling with it for 2 years.

I think of the top level as similar to being in maintenance.

You've established a pattern and you need to keep doing what you were doing.

We have to make rewards in life for ourselves. Maybe someone can create a team for those at higher levels.

Everyone still keeps earning points. That is a reward in itself.

With the focus here being on health, I would hate to see Sparkpeople place too much importance on the points and the trophies.
