I am quite curvy but am very muscular as well. My body allows me to complete in triathlons of all sorts as well as play other sports and I am 50....am I perfect no but I like the way I look. I was very skinny for about 15 years but I am happier now being a well rounded person (no pun intended) as I ate very little, smoked, exercised as well but was never happy no matter how skinny I was.

Everybody has there own body shape and some women have curves and some do not. Possibly if these two women put on some weight they might not have any curves. It might all go to their middle? Which definitely wouldn't be healthy.

I don't like Kathy Griffin because I find her to be crass and tasteless. I've seen Susan Lucci in interviews and she seems like the sweet momma bear type. So I do like her personality.

FENWAYGIRL18: it doesn't matter if they are healthy or not. It's not your place or anyone else's to judge someone for their level of health. Celebrities do not OWE you their own good health. While it would be great if everyone could be healthy all the time, that's not life. The same way it is unacceptable to shame fat people for being "unhealthy" (when healthy people can be any size and people of any size can be healthy - unless you have read their medical folder you have no idea how healthy they are, and many health issues have nothing to do with weight) - likewise, it is unacceptable to shame thin people for being "unhealthy." There are many, many shapes and sizes for the human body. Stop judging and shaming people and take care of you.

I think women need to support other women, thin, average or heavy. Why be so hard on our sisters? Women are already so criticized in the media, why should we do it, too? Maybe some actresses are too thin, but there's a lot of pressure in the entertainment business to be thin.

I know I'm on SP to be the healthiest I can be. I don't want others judging me, so why would I judge others? I want to support other women in whatever goals they've set for themselves and I want to feel supported with respect to my goals. I want to be a source of positive energy rather than negative.

I know from personal experience that when I criticized other women for being "too thin" (in the past), I was usually just jealous! Once I was able to recognize this, then focus on myself, I became a better person for it.

I am a curvy type with meat on my bones and I have accepted that and come to appreciate the curves and meat. I also appreciate magazines that have women models who resemble my shape. I get tired of the airbrushed, photo-shopped jobs they do on women who are beautiful as they are. Of course if my body shape had fewer curves and looked a little more boyish, I don't think I would lust after curves. My dad calls me a goddess (probably because of the curves) and so I associate curves with positiveness. As for very skinny or very large people, I sometimes wonder what is going on in their lives that might contribute to their size (depression? divorce? illness? personal preference?), but usually people are just people and I'm more interested in if they are nice or not.

Well, sort of. Why is it okay to insult a well known personality (or anyone) because of their body size.

Ok, words fail me now.

Susan Lucci has always been thin, and she likes to eat, it's in her genes to be that way, plus, she is a tv celeb, those people don't have a lifestyle like the majority of people in the first place. I think Kelly Ripa is sort of thin, and she admits to how hard it is to stay that way, but she has been a tv star for years, and knows that semi starving and exercising is a part of her job, really. These people are like dolls we look at, and say, oh gee whiz, isn't that perfect?? Like the Stepford wives................lol. They have trainers, producers that follow them around and watch what they eat, with bags of spinach for the celeb to munch on. Not a normal life. Perhaps if you live a life of just looking in the mirror all the time, exercising, rubbing your face and fooling with your hair and no housework to do, it's for you. Getting thin is one thing, but STAYING that way is a whole different thing for the average gal.

I think thin people are sometimes discriminated against. For example, once i saw an add in a magazine that said "Real women have curves." Does that mean because i'm naturally petite and not curvy, i'm not a real woman? I don't think so. Nobody should be judged for their weight, whatever it might be.

I'm going to re-state what a lot of other people have said and say that judging someone for being too skinny is just as rude, nasty and uncalled for as judging someone because they are overweight. Additionally, saying that her weight (or lack thereof) makes her unhealthy is none of your business because you are not her doctor.

What does that even mean? I am 5' 4" and weighed between 110 and 120 for most of my adult life. If anything, I got sick LESS when I was thin and physically fit. And when I did get sick, being thin had nothing to do with it and made it no more difficult.

I spent most of my life being teased because I was thin. A whole lot of people think thin people are fair game and that it's perfectly acceptable to say nasty, mean things to them. All of the people who spewed such venom as, "You're going to blow away one day," "You must be anorexic," or "You need to go eat a cheeseburger or five," were always only projecting their own insecurities on others.

People, especially other women, need to worry about their own health, fitness, and looks and stop being so nasty and judgmental toward others.

Be not afraid of going slowly; be afraid only of standing still.

I come from this place.......God gave us all our own bodies so we get to decide what it looks like. It's not up to anyone else to decide what it looks like. My arms, my legs, my abs area ... all hanging skin ...
I used to be one of those "go eat a sandwich" I'd say to the skinny - kinds of pleasingly plump people (and had been obese when young) ... and am waaaaay below my happy weight now ...

I am managing my weight (and my Type 2 diabetes) via low carbing ...

IF weighed on my doctor's analog scale (FAR from what you see down here, tracked - bad analog bathroom scale) my BMI is thankfully, still above 20.4

Putting someone down for being skinny is just as ridiculous as putting someone down for being fat. It's also just as vapid, shallow, idiotic and annoying.

Different men like different things--for every man who likes a woman with meat on her bones, surely there is another who likes fat women and another who prefers women who are extremely thin. To each his own.

Kathy Griffin is 5'3 and 115 lbs which gives her a BMI of 20.4. She is a completely healthy weight for her height. In fact she has the exact same BMI as I do. I must be disgustingly skinny, according to you.... thanks.

Why do you believe it's ok to criticize someone's weight/looks who is thin? Would you be saying the same things about someone who is overweight/obese?

jmho... but I think a lot of times when we're being critical of others, it is more a reflection on OURSELVES. And we're either justifying our faults or feeling "holier than thou". Susan Lucci has been on tv for years and years and has always been thin. Maybe genetically she's just built that way. idk. Whatever. She has hanging skin because she's in her 60's and unless you have plastic surgery to remove it, your skin IS going to hang. It's a fact of aging-- your skin loses its elasticity.

I don't know who the actors mentioned really are and don't care but I generally agree that being too skinny is not attractive. I know a woman in real life whom I don't think is skinny "on purpose" but it is hard for me to look at her. She looks like a walking skeleton, and that is just not a look I like. I have had people tell me I'm too skinny but that is ridiculous (in my view). I do have curves and I'm no walking skeleton. However I do have some "hanging skin" at age 54. Not only have I been fat in the past (weighed over 200 at age 29 after having my 3rd child) but I'm uhhhh....54. I do tihnk it comes more with age and not much we can really do about it other than get fat to fill them back out...but I'd rather not!

Why turn on other women and judge them by their bodies? It's fine to have your own ideas of what you want to look like, but why would that extend to disparaging others? Maybe instead of being negative about other women, if we could all support each other, we would all benefit in the long run.

She's... 67 years old. There's bound to be a little slackening-of-the-skin by that point, skinny or not. I think she looks pretty good tbh. I might not aspire to that body ideal for myself, but... I really don't feel like I want to be judging her (or anyone) on their weight...

The more and more I watch TV the more and more I find myself saying to my husband this girl needs to eat a hamburger! I watch Devious Maids and I'm sorry Susan Lucci is waaaay to skinny!
Her arms have like hanging skin I think because it never had any meat on it and tonight I was watching Kathy Griffin on Jay Leno and her arms also looked so thin her skin was just hanging and neither one was ever chubby.
I mean I'd never want to be that skinny that my bones are just sticking out of my neck and your body looks more like a teenage boy.
I want to be healthy looking, I want curves and meat on me..... even my husband will say wow she's too skinny and I know back in the day every guy I ever went out with always liked a girl with meat on her bones and curves.
